An arrest should have been made by now.

They don't have a suspect. There will never be an arrest.

The local police botched this from the beginning and it's really sad. Almost no one is abducted today without a trace; especially when there's camera footage. And they are still "discovering" photos 6 weeks later? WTH? Police also let a pizza delivery guy enter the crime scene in the 1st days of the investigation. Total ineptitude. Savannah should hire a private investigator.

You can say all of that but there is surprisingly little evidence. No dna hits, no other camera info. Random crimes like this are hard.

This brilliant abductor used leaves from a porch plant to cover the camera which shows how poorly planned and executed this was. There were more mistakes made but the police flubbed it from the beginning and likely missed a bunch of evidence. They found similar gloves on the trail in the area near the home 2 weeks later? Just obtaining additional photos 6 weeks later? Spending too much time focused on neighbors or family perhaps?

He planned it well enough so that he was wearing double gloves, the mask and was seemingly well prepared, left no DNA evidence, but not well enough that he didn’t account for the cameras. That’s puzzling to me.

To me, this indicates that he was hired for this and was not warned about the camera. He looked genuinely surprised to see it but also immediately knew what it was.

Let’s see…who is someone who:

1. Is an incredibly incompetent criminal but somehow still gets away with everything

2. Has beef with Savannah and would benefit from her being off the air at this point in time

3. Tends to go after family members of his enemies

4. Offered false sympathy and support

5. Has the power to make sure local police and FBI fumble the investigation

6. Would benefit from such a high-profile crime occurring so close to the border

If only we could find someone who fits this profile, I think we’d have the guy…

I think that's by pure luck and the ineptitude of the police dept just added extra luck of not finding the right evidence.

I watched a video of a woman yesterday going scorched earth on someone just minding their business.

Or maybe some are freaked out there is a random killer/kidnapper out there and the extra scrutiny provides some safety. It's not like Tucson's finest are doing their jobs.

I think this is the right take. He was coverd so much he didn't leave any usable DNA. The camera oddities (no subscription, difficulty extracting even minimal footage) didn't help. She lives in a comparatively remote neighborhood, accessible without having to travel on main roadways, leading to limited additional information.

How long must a case be unsolved before it is officially “cold?”

When I looked up the County stats, the sheriffs office deals with about a half dozen homicides a year. And you would assume most of them are pretty straightforward, with witnesses or where the perpetrator is pretty obvious. Compare to DC which had 127 homicides last year. I think it's unrealistic to expect most agencies to have the kind of expertise we see on CSI Miami or whatever, unfortunately.

In other words, the $170M annual budget for this sheriff’s office is robbing that county blind.

+1. Dipshit welfare kings and queens. Bunch of lazy idiot drunks and philanderers collecting pensions.

Hogwash. You are going to push your agenda no matter what the facts are.

It’s cold. They have no more info or knowledge of where she is now than they did on February 2.

I believe a case is officially cold when they no longer have any tips to check out.

I'm sure they are still running through the 20,000 or so tips. Also, I heard a retired detective say if it's not solved in a day, then it takes a week. If not solved in a week, then a month. If not in a month, then 6 months. Then I guess it goes cold. Her reasons were the different types of investigating that are done at each of those stages. The month to 6 months stage is due to tracing dna through genealogy.

Also, if google was able to find at least the one still and one video of the porch guy, it's possible they can keep working to find more. If google is searching the "marked for delete" sections of their data, I'll bet AI could be used to look at every fragment of memory and find any image that matches the front porch or the backyard. This could take months.

In the Dan Markle case, LE had a recording of Charlie Adelson talking in a restaurant, but it was inaudible. It took a few years and some advancements in technology that allowed them to clean up the audio and let Charlie's own words sink his case (along with a bunch of other things he did).

I'm concerned that even if they find a person to arrest, the investigation has been shoddy at best. Most crime scenes are completely taped off and have a person who checks in and out every investigator who visits the scene and makes sure they are wearing the proper protective clothing. With all the media filming on the day after, this was not seen. There is a clear image of porch guy standing on the doormat, yet the mat was never taken into evidence. The house was released by Tuesday morning, and then there were pizza deliveries, Amazon, CPS, news reporters all roaming the driveway. Then the house was re-designated a crime scene and the FBI came in. Almost a week later, a neighbor gave a tip about the new roof and only then could LE be seen removing the cameras on the casita guest house roof. A defense attorney would have a field day.

8 weeks after she was abducted the police are just now asking neighbors for camera footage from weeks before the abduction to see if they can find new leads. 8 weeks. What a joke.

I think their best chance is a top from a family member who recognizes them from the video or overhears something or gets a confession.

Interview on the Today Show this morning was heartbreaking. Savannah weeping that her mom may have been kidnapped because of her own fame is just awful to comprehend.

She said many of the ransom notes were fakes but she believes that the two they responded to were authentic.

Addressed the inuendo that her BIL was the perp - she seemed genuinley angry about that.

She didn't seem overly enthusiastic about the investigation itself. She credited the hard work of the investigators thus far.

She asked her brother if he thought this happened because of her/her fame and he admitted yes maybe...How heartbreaking. The siblings (at least her brother) are going to resent her. Truthfully for all they know it could've been a stalker that thought kidnapping her mom would make savannah pay attention to them but she died in the process. Still..

I can't imagine they would resent her. Now, the Reiner siblings will absolutely resent their brother. This is nothing like that.

That sheriff's department/ police department sure isn't using its money well.

Poor lady is definitely dead by now, and it's extremely suspicious how much a trump commented on this case.
