It's nonsensical to the point where it either gets tossed by the judge or tossed on appeal. It's literally impossible for her to have defamed him, but his statement that she was lying to have defamed her. Personally, I applaud the jury for what seems like a great troll job.

He sued her for defamation over different statements. She countersued that he had defamed her. So they both had to prove the other had defamed them. The jury concluded she defamed him on all 3 statements. They concluded he defamed her on one of 3 she argued.
