I agree on the first part - they didn’t focus on daily issues people face.

I feel I got moneys worth with Northam - ended death penalty and legalized marijuana to name two things but they didn’t even talk about those successes.

I'm watching now. Funny to hear Cuomo saying Youngkin was all over Trump and the Republican person brought in shot back 'Trump never visited the state one time' and Chris came back with 'Well they had a phone call'.

If I'm criminalized for every person I've spoken to over the phone once, that's going to be a long list of charges.

Here's my take on all of this and sorry if it's been said. I'm not going through the last 100+ pages or however many there have been since the election was called:

If Youngkin winning shows R candidates that they don't need to be full on Trump/MAGA to win, that is a good thing for our country. Trump is absolutely toxic. If this win emboldens Republicans to actually have a platform other than Trump's whims and stop being crazy conspiracy theorists then there may be hope for our country yet.

This is a good point. CNN had on some former politicians (both Republicans I think) who said essentially the same thing. The Trump base alone (like the progressive wing of the Dems) is not large enough to carry a national level or large state election. Maybe Virginia showed some Republicans that they don’t need to go full MAGA to win elections, Youngkin was actually helped by the fact that Trump didn’t show up here.

This should be interesting. I posted here a million pages ago that this should show Republicans how bad Trump was because the margins for Youngkin - who was trying not to be Trumpy - and Ciaterelli - who was absolutely Trumpy - were both so much better than actual Trump got. But then Trump and RNC chair Ronna Romney both came out and claimed that the victories were all about Trump. So maybe they won’t learn anything.
