| Thinking back to the Moscow Murders, how long did it take for an arrest to be made? Was there a similar level of silence while they were working the case? |
How can they move on without closure? |
+1. How could anyone move on without knowing? They don't even have the pipe dream hope that Nancy wandered off an started a new life. They have a video that makes it clear something TERRIBLE has happened to her. It's sickening to even think about. |
What is the motivation? Real life isn't some kind of complicated crime thriller or murder mystery novel. The answer is almost always the simplest one. And luck does happen. |
They don't really have a choice. |

Wow, I cannot believe it has been forty days already since this woman was taken - and even more shocking that an arrest still has not been made.
Now that all this time has passed, I am convinced that the motive for the abduction was likely someone was angry at either Nancy and/or her family and enacted this kidnapping as a way to seek revenge. I suspect the perpetrator perhaps purposely made sure to have Nancy’s blood left behind as a way to scare the family & let them know that Nancy was in severe danger. I highly doubt robbery was a factor in this and I am almost positive that this attack was not a random one. As for whether or not I believe that Nancy is still alive, I do not think she is. Primarily due to her age and the fact that she was on medicine that was keeping her alive. I think that the stress that being whisked away from her bed in the middle of the night coupled with her age/medical condition could contribute to her unfortunate demise if the perpetrator did not do anything sinister to her directly. I hope I am completely wrong on this because like everyone who is interested and keeping up with this story, I would love to see a happy ending to this. |

I think a big part on why so many people are invested personally in this case is yes, of course there is the celebrity element.
But even deeper is that many people also are concerned about their parents as they age. Most especially if they are living alone and independently. People wonder if something like this could happen to their elderly parents too and it worries them. For many adult children of an elderly parent it is basically their worst nightmare. |
| This is basically the MOST unlikely thing that could happen to an elderly person. Nobody wants to kidnap and be responsible for elderly people. Whether it was a burglary gone wrong and they took the body for some reason or it was a targeted abduction, it was highly atypical and your own elderly parents are extremely unlikely to experience anything like this. |
Plenty of people don’t really move on. Even when a loved one dies of natural causes, some people just get stuck in complicated grief. Not proud of this, but I consume a lot of true crime, and sometimes it is so clear people have not moved on. Their lives are all about that murdered or missing person. Did you watch the documentary about Amy Bradley? Her family has in no sense moved on. |

Soooo, that sheriff gave an interview today and all I can say is what the hell is going on.
https://www.today.com/news/nancy-guthrie-update-latest-sheriff-interview-today-rcna263320 Some highlights: "Kreutz [NBC reporter] asked Nanos [sheriff] if it's possible the suspect could strike again. "Well, absolutely, absolutely," he said. "I mean, you know, criminal minds are criminal minds."" "We believe we know why he did this, and we believe that it was targeted, but we can’t — we’re not 100% sure of that, and so it’d be silly to tell people, 'Yeah, don’t worry about it. You’re not his target.' No, you could be," he said. I'm sorry: You could be the target of this kidnapper? The suspect could strike again? We know why he did this? I sure hope this is a planned strategy, because this is bananas. This does not make anyone feel safe. Do they think the motive was personal? or money driven? if the suspect strikes again is he/they looking for an elderly woman? a relative of a famous person? a fomer employer? (like if it was a household/lanscape help/worker person). a person who lives in tuscon? Or anywhere in the U.S.? Any age? Any sex? The sheriff is saying VERY inflammatory things and providing no information at all. |

"Criminal minds are criminal minds"
Riveting. This case never had a chance of getting solved. |
It’s also probably terrifying for Savannah because who knows if this person is going to attack her or other family members. It might not be likely, but I’m sure if this happened to me that idea would be in the back of my head all of the time. |
Unresolved loss is extremely hard to move on from. |
Maybe it’s the Sheriff himself at this point with the way things are going |
I think there are precautions we can take that her job did not allow her to take. I would not post on social media about your adorable elderly mom and where she lives alone or post photos inside her home. I suspect Savannah was pushed to do the hometown segment because some viewers would find it charming and elderly viewers might particularly enjoy it, but it provided way too much information to criminals. Also, you don't post funerals online without making them private or obituaries. Those are a GOLDMINE for criminals. The videos are particularly bad because they can use AI to mimic the voice. You protect the elderly with the same mindset you have with children-they are vulnerable and there are many predators out there. Putting too much out there for public consumption feeds predators. |
