New Additions to Leagues Check Up (ECNL & GA)

For what it’s worth, everything that Nationals has accomplished has been accomplished in the GA/DA. Literally every kid on their top teams were getting offers when they were playing GA. The ECNL really did nothing for them. They were already there, thanks to the GA/DA.

“It’s time for us to make the move and step up,” said Nationals SC Girls Academy Director of Coaching David Robertson, who will remain the Director of Coaching for the Nationals’ ECNL girls soccer teams. “We were accepted into ECNL and we felt the timing is right. We’re looking forward to the switch and the upcoming seasons.”

This anti-GA sentiment is a weird obsession. Fact is it's good both ECNL and GA are expanding. It means more pathways for kids to higher levels of competition and exposure where competition improves both leagues. Heck, even USYS has kept trying to evolve to keep up. It would be fun, tho, if the champs all could play each other. College coaches would probably appreciate that.

memo sent out to the GA hats to start posting...

Ya know, it's ECNL hats and GA hoodies

no one bothered to read what was said......THE GA IS TIER 2 TALENT!!! Stop feeding into the crap your coach and club director's are telling you. And as far as the two league champs facing off, give me a break. Let's just take the 2010 age group, Slammers Koge vs Top Hat, final score 10 nothing Slammers win. Same thing with MVLA, Surf, Solar, Hawks, Eclipse, etc, etc....what are we talking about here, clueless forum.

Eclipse’s best days are behind them. The talent pool in Chicago area is too spread out now with three ECNL and Three GA clubs. For example, the core group of 2009s from Eclipse are now at Rockford, which is why they are the top team in the Midwest and Wclipse has fallen. A couple of years ago, the Eclipse 2009s were a deep pool. Now those kids are spread between four clubs. Typical ECNL. All recruitment no development.

This dude is fragile and struggling. So much of his persona is tied to ECNlL.

I feel bad for the guy.

But, I also like torturing him.

BTW GA beat both Man City and Bayern Acadamies today.

Typical ECNL? It’s a league. Leagues don’t develop players. GA, E64, ECNL do not develop anybody. Clubs and coaches do.

He is right though. The talent is tiered.

Do you know the definition of persona? I think you meant personality.

Pretty sure that tophat team would be 95% of ecnl teams…

If you are in GA surrounded by 5 ECNL clubs and still on top…..

Why did they leave GA?

So they don’t have to develop players anymore. GA forces their clubs to develop and more importantly, do not allow them to poach or recruit.

Clubs? Coaches and players develop players. That's it.

Not around here. Coaches don’t develop players in the dmv.

Look at what’s playing out over at Nationals SC. They didn’t leave for the competition at ECNL.

First year, they got 1 ECNL and 1 ECRL team.
Go look at how many of their locations are now playing for ECRL.

2 GA teams < 1 ECNL and 4-5 ECRL teams.

It was strictly a money move.
