That team was amazing, but they lasted exactly one year longer than the 2029 east team did before blowing up. Some MDU teams make it until HS, but they almost always blow up. Now it is 2030 east’s turn and they are already losing their 2 best players. More will probably leave after tryouts, it is just what happens. Why? Each team is different, but my points are part of the reasons why. Recruiting is as much keeping talent in house as it is pulling outside kids in, and MDU is terrible at it. |
Honestly, the director is such a spiteful dufus, she probably did tell her best players to go elsewhere, lol. But they don’t have anyone coming in, there isn’t anyone to bring in. |
Yup |
| I wonder if it has anything to do with the new coach? From Check Hers to Hero's White to MDU East in back to back to back years. |
I wouldn’t have a lame duck player finish out the summer either, who cares? Time to move kids around and see who can feel void. At best, it’s a distraction. |
2030 light years better than the 2029 MDU team, not even comparable. |
Now, but at one time the 2029 east team was top 10. They fell off, just like 2030 east now, so perfect comparison. |
Yeah, except one of the two leaving wasn’t gone, just looking around as you should. Pushing her out the door is idiotic. |
Not too long ago club tryouts were after tournament season was mostly over. Then they were pushed earlier and earlier as teams tried to be first to hold them so they could force girls to decide within 48 hours and prevent them from going to other clubs' tryouts. This combined with "open practices" has created a terrible atmosphere where girls getting ready to play with their team for the summer are leaving early, replacing girls from current teams etc. It is never going to go back to the way it was, but I wish it would. Even worse is when tryouts happen and girls are cut and they have 2 more tournaments with their team... |
And yes the MDU club director is notorious for telling girls "don't come back" if they go to an open practice or are shopping around (not even have decided to officially leave the team), but does not actively try to get girls to replace them. |
This is true. Finished #7 in 2023, won two LFTCs, made a ngll mid Atlantic final and two semis, and then fell off hard. I heard kinda the same thing, that girls who were getting asked to tryout elsewhere were pushed out the door, and now half of that team from 2 years ago is playing for top 10 teams integrity, m&d, and heros. |
2030 much much better than 2029 ever was, you seem to be missing the point. |
Agreed, tryouts should be in August like it was a decade ago |
If she bounced people for going to open practices they’d down many more players than one |
That’s simply not true, you are missing the point. MDU east was #5 in first fall of rankings, finished at #7, then was #13 the next year, and #29 the next. MDU lasted until 8th grade to start breaking up, the 2029 team did it in 7th. Before the drop that team was winning major tournaments and competing with HG and M&D, and beating CM. Yes, the 2030 won a NGLL natty, but the 2029 team was very good too. Watch, the same trajectory for the 2030 east team, it just took longer because they stayed successful for longer. |
