| Have you heard back yet? It's killing me. We considered UV a safety for DC but we haven't heard anything. Several people that DC knows heard back right away. The application went in on October 30. If you've heard back already, what GPA and ACT/SAT composite did DC have? My DC has a 3.94 weighted and 30 ACT. Now I'm really worried about the other colleges DC applied to. |
| Have you looked on college confidential? |
| Where else did she apply? |
| I don't know about Vermont, but December 15th is the notification date for Virginia Tech ED. You may have to wait a bit longer. |
| Not to worry. I know Fordham, for example, has already sent likely letters to the top candidates who applied EA. Most of the kids who got these letters were NMSFs or had SATs over 2200. Those letters went out just a week or so after the deadline. Others schools at the same tier probably do the same thing because they are in competition for the same kids. |
|
DC applied EA to one and ED to another school and hasn't heard anything (and has scores over 2200 -- and these are not the most competitive schools). I'm assuming its unusual for schools to notify students at this point. It hasn't been long since the deadlines.
Sit tight. |

EA isn't the same as rolling admissions. Schools let all their EA applicants know on a single date. For UVM, it looks like that date is Dec. 17th.
An exception to this might be a recruited athlete. |
|
OP,
What do you mean, people heard back right away? What did they hear from the University of Vermont? The notification date is December 17. |
| Do know a female athlete w acceptance some weeks back. |
| Totally different process if coach was involved. |
|
They also tell alumni kids faster
|
Not true for GMU. The EA letters (and they are letters not email) roll out earlier for the clear "yes". DC's got theirs Dec. 8th. |
Yes, some schools do it this way. They let the top kids know way before the official date. Usually, these kids get "likely" letters, just like many athletes. It does put more stress on those kids who hear about the early Early Admissions, but have to wait until the official date. These same early admits often get better financial aid, and invites to special events on campi that other acceptees do not get. |
OP here- still haven't heard anything. DC is taking it well. Me, not so much. We don't talk about it. Just keep bringing in the mail and focusing on other applications, which unfortunately, are more competitive than UV. I think I'll have DC apply to Iowa. |
Don't stress it! Only the top 5% or so of applicants get these letters, at least at that's what I hear from a student who got one last year. The vast majority of kids admitted early find out on the regular date just like those deferred or denied. |
