Our club (big MLSN/GA club in SoCal with 120+ teams) will have a 1 day new age group evaluation practice next week for all ages. Our DOC has communicated to us that all individuals will need to petition for exception to stay with current teams, and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

And because we are in SoCal, all August kids will be in the "wrong grade".

Before you accuse me as a liar, the club is SoCal Reds FC, I trust that you can find the contacts to verify.

Certainly seems like p2p MLSN is going SY too, not a shocker, but I remember some posters saying it would never happen.

We'll see what happens.

Parents will start screaming and things will chamge.

The other GA club person that commented said their club tried to do somehting similar and team managers said that doesnt make sense. Forcing the club to reevaluate. So who knows what will happen. Maybe Socal Reds just hasn't got to that point yet.

That’s only you posting as “someone else” club managers have no say in anything other than setting up the canopy and bringing the player cards.
Not that I don’t appreciate a good TM but they have 0 say in anything most of the time.

You buried the lead, they didn't think the team would care about player/parent input, "Nobody really believes leadership will let players choose if they stay with a team or play down if they're a current trapped player. Consensus is that individual coaches will pick and choose the players they like and thats just how it will be."

I agree with this.

But I also agree that clubs wont play players on a grade down team because this would screw them out of being recruited. Clubs show value based on the number of college commitments. This is free club advertising for youngers parents and players. Docs ans club owners will step in when they see committments go down or potentially go down.

Seriously though, TM's don't pick teams or lineups. Clubs won't be worried about hurting their feelings.

Team managers most certainly work with coaches on rosters and are often the first person to be contacted on the team by college recruiters about specific playera.

Such a know it all.

If by “work with coaches” you mean do whatever they say then yes you would be correct. I’m not arguing TM are the person coaches contact first.
I’m saying they have no real power in decision making.

Yes, some parents will freak out when they realize they might be not in the same grade BUT then freak out again when they find out there kids 13, 14 and 15 months older.

Haha….

My personal situation is a parent of good u13 player with September b day. We can’t wait to move down and he can play with his grade. I’m seeing tremendous anger on the current team with the idea 12’s dropping down….

I think I need a soccer fox hole.
