Study the rules, ask questions to your club and local soccer officials and act in your child's best interest. Otherwise, I recommend avoiding all forums and social media on the topic.

YUP. Just my experience doesn’t make it true for everyone, my daughter’s team brought up a 2011 who’s the all everything for her team. Invites to all the US soccer national team tryouts and playing up she looked like any sub we had on the team. Definitely didn’t do terrible but against a middle of the pack ECNL team she was just an average player with some speed.

Not saying she won’t develop into a quality player. I just think kids who have been dominant in their age group are going to notice an extra degree of difficulty next year.

Yes, some parents will freak out when they realize they might be not in the same grade BUT then freak out again when they find out there kids 13, 14 and 15 months older.
Not possible in SY unless playing up, but then you expect players to be older. So this comment makes no sense.

Facing older/more experienced players will benefit these current top age groupers.

This is reference IF there are ANY rules that force kids at the top of the age group to play with their grade vs age.

That's like saying that if unicorns exist I want one at my birthday party. Nobody forced to play up.

My personal situation is a parent of good u13 player with September b day. We can’t wait to move down and he can play with his grade. I’m seeing tremendous anger on the current team with the idea 12’s dropping down….

I think I need a soccer fox hole.

100% and now tell me how those same parents would feel about a player with an Aug birthday thats a grade older in school playing down on. their team.

There will be a rule and clubs will just implement it this way especially as players get older. (because of college recruiting) But once players are u15ish playing up isnt that big of a deal.

MLS Academy team plays up this season and gets beaten badly by P2P MLS1. One year makes a huge difference. Q3/Q4 RL players will surprise the younger NL parents next year.

Nobody has said no rule. The only thing they've said is SY 8/1-7/31

OP here. It is just an 1 day "evaluation" , you can interpret for whatever it is.

The club has both MLSN1 and MLSN2

MLS2 will be SY 100%.

Maybe but if MLS Homegrown and Acadaies stay BY that means its only a 6 month difference in age (not 12 months) if one or the other group plays up against each other.
