Our club (big MLSN/GA club in SoCal with 120+ teams) will have a 1 day new age group evaluation practice next week for all ages. Our DOC has communicated to us that all individuals will need to petition for exception to stay with current teams, and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

And because we are in SoCal, all August kids will be in the "wrong grade".

Before you accuse me as a liar, the club is SoCal Reds FC, I trust that you can find the contacts to verify.

OP here, let me clarify. The new age group evaluation is for both boys and girls. But the new age group rules are communicated to us GA parents.

Thank you. Seems like everyone knows the score now. Good luck at tryouts!

So what your club is saying is that they will choose who rosters on which team.

This means they can do anything with any justification. They might keep all playera with their grade. They might just choose to keep some with their grade.

Parents aren't the deciders.

Huh???!!! It means the exact opposite.

Players has to petition the club to stay with old teams.

For Aug players, they will go to "younger" BY DEFAULT, unless they file a petition, pending approval by the club.

So by default if there is an Aug Birthday playing on their correct grade BY team Socal Reds are going to force that player to play a grade down a grade unless the player or parent petitions to stay with their correct grade BY team.

You dont see why this is an issue. 🤔
Not an issue, same policy. Everybody plays on age, except kids that can play on top teams a year up.

Ok so how will a player playing down a year from everyone else in their graduating year get recruited for college?
Standard stuff; making connections, playing well enough, getting good grades and taking on a mortgage worth of debt or handing over a suitcase full of cash.

Give me a break. That makes no sense.

You're saying that Socal Reds will take Aug birthday BY players that are playing on a team with their grade and when they switch to SY the club will put them on a team thats a grade below them in school.

It's like theyre going out of their way to screw players over

How do international players who don’t even show up in US get recruited? There are so many ways to get noticed if you’re really good at soccer

Aug clown, the red’s parent is helping you and giving you a fact and everyone useful info, which you cannot accept. So pathetic. Give yourself and everyone a break and leave this thread. So this thread can have a higher ratio of signal/noise.

I'm saying everyone plays on age, unless you can be starter on one year up top team, like it has been, like it will be. Just like the person said Socal Reds are doing. This shouldn't be a shock to anyone around youth soccer more than a hot minute. Unless of course your stumping for some special rule to help your own kid.

We are seeing what happens.

ECNL had a podcast saying playing up should only be used in special cases and Socal said they would consider special cases for playing up. The plan is in action. Playing up is rare and earned and not forced.

Only one parent is screaming. Screaming gibberish.

The other GA club person that commented said their club tried to do somehting similar and team managers said that doesnt make sense. Forcing the club to reevaluate. So who knows what will happen. Maybe Socal Reds just hasn't got to that point yet.
