Yes. We are all going to stay home.

I know this sounds shocking, but to date, the only way we have seen reductions in any place around the world is massive restrictions on individual movement and daily life. There is absolutely no reason that the USA will be any different if we want to defeat or minimize this in the next two months (i.e. pre-Summer).

We should be testing and staying home now. I don't think Trump can be directly blamed for the CDC f-ing up the testing, but he can be directly blamed for everything since, especially the lack of messaging and contradictory messaging.

That doesn't excuse state and local governments from the head-in-the-sand approach. There should be requirements of anyone in contact with the church rector and parishioners to quarantine. Instead, there was no official information about the identity of the rector, nothing. Just assurance that the cherry blossom festival will go on.

I can't tell if it's political- ignore it and it will hopefully go away - or if it is incompetence. So many failures.

There?s a percentage here who won?t stay home so it not going to be effective. It?s only a good plan when everyone participates

Cathedral Schools said this basically:

"We remain in close touch with infectious disease experts, whose recommendations we are following. In addition, we ask that any adult or child who has had close contact within the past 14 days with someone who has contracted coronavirus disease seek medical advice before returning to school."

Cathedral Schools response does not seem stringent enough. I would not limit it to ?close? contact and would tell people to self-quarantine for two weeks if they came in contact. The government is testing only a small fraction of people with symptoms because of lack of testing kits. Many more people have been exposed but will never be tested. You can?t wait for positive tests to self-quarantine if you?ve had any contact. I imagine there are several families from the Cathedral Schools who attended services at Chris Church over the last few weeks.

It could really slow the spread if parishioners who shook his hand, took communion, or otherwise came in contact with him stayed home/self quarantined as much as possible over the next two weeks. It’s the responsible thing to do.

They won't, then say "no one in government told me to". I really wonder about people sometimes - you are independent thinkers here in the US. It's a gift. Use it well

The problem is you can’t get tested. I have been exposed to someone who has tested positive and have risk factors. My doctor has tried, and they say I don’t meet criteria. Something has to change about this process.

Why would you test when you aren't sick? You will test negative, then potentially get sick five days later

This whole scenario reminds of the movie Jaws when the Mayor begs/strong arms the Sheriff to not close the beaches during the 4th of July weekend because of all the loss of revenue to the town during the holiday blitz. We all know how that turned out....
