What they released is damning enough, but yes, let's see more too! |
Several Senate Republicans I've spoken with in the last hour are stunned that the WH is releasing this transcript. They do not think it helps the president's cause. And they expect today's Senate GOP lunch to be quite the get-together.

Adam Schiff's Twitter:
"The transcript of the call reads like a classic mob shakedown: – We do a lot for Ukraine – There’s not much reciprocity – I have a favor to ask – Investigate my opponent – My people will be in touch Nice country you got there. It would be a shame if something happened to her." https://twitter.com/RepAdamSchiff/status/1176874772736749569?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1176874772736749569&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnn.com%2Fpolitics%2Flive-news%2Ftrump-impeachment-inquiry-09-25-2019%2Findex.html |
President Trump goes right into getting dirt on Biden and asks for that "favor though" after Ukraine asks for more weapons aid.
How is anyone defending this or thinking that this transcript isn't bad for the President? |
Keep up the pressure and he will be removed from office by his own party. |
He didn't ask for weapons aid. He said that they were almost ready to buy more Javelins from the US for defense purposes. |
Trump's using public resources to get a foreign power to gather dirt on his political opponent's family. What's impeachment even for if not that? |
HE NEEDS THE AID MONEY TO BUY THE JAVELINS. |
Right? Reminds of the time my husband asked me if he needed to wear his (only) suit to his grandmother's funeral. My reply was something to the effect of "If you don't wear it today, I'm really not sure why you have it." |
U.S. military aid usually means funds to buy weapons from major U.S. defense contractors. DoD and Congress probably were upset about the Ukraine funds being held by Trump and Mulvaney not because they cared about Ukraine as much as because the U.S. defense contractors were asking what was holding up their sales. |
Are you stupid or is this more obfuscation? |
The salient point is that on one in any agency was told why the money was not being released, and who even had authority over it. Until the scandal broke. That's the major consideration to say that it was a secretive attempt by the White House at bribery and extortion. |
Romney is doing a Collins for now:
"My reaction was the same as I had a few days ago, which is this remains deeply troubling and we'll see where it leads. But the first reaction is troubling." |
“I would like you to do us a favor though...”
