| Wait I am troll and even I find incredulous that people have devolved this conversation where they are jockeying to see which high school has a stronger reputation on Wall Street. The thought the millionaires sit around talking about high schools at any level is laughable. Maybe colleges for the 20 somethings and (50 somethings who just woke up old) but no one should ever care or take pride in high school. |
I keep asking for CONCRETE information to back up your argument and you refuse to provide any. So I'll ask again: provide concrete data proving that Blair is better than Stuy, Poolesville, and TJ. As for the majority-minority point: Stuy is only 81% minority. |
I take pride in the HS I went to. I worked hard to get in and worked my butt off to graduate with honors. In many ways, it was harder than college. |
Liar. Anyone who goes/went to Stuy and Bronx Science knows about Blair. I have family members who when they come down here ask me where Blair HS is. Poolesville have not done much nationally |
Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm not lying. Why can't you accept that Poolesville is a strong school, just like Blair is? Why is that so difficult for you? |
|
Here's a link to Poolesville's page for student awards: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/poolesvillehs/about/accolades.aspx
Note the gold medal in the USA Physics Olympiad that a Poolesville student won this year. If you think Blair is better, show me concrete evidence that their students surpass Poolesville in these areas, or other quantifiable measures. |
Here is concrete evidence https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regeneron_Science_Talent_Search Stuy is mostly Asian and white and All-magnet CASE CLOSED |
I never said Poolesville is not a strong school but for you to claim it's better known nationally than Blair is just not true. |
So because Blair has more URM it's ... better? My argument is it's ranked lower likely because it's not a whole school magnet, meaning it's probably ultimately equivalent to Stuy, Poolesville, and TJ. |
It might not have been you, but a PP said it's a backwater school and said "WTH is the student body it even draws from." |
|
I'd rather hire the top 1% of a program or school pulling from 2,000,000 seniors in an urban area than the top 1% of a program or school pulling from 15,000 seniors north of Homestead Farm any day.
Pure stats. I do see Poolesville is in Potomac, correct? |
| I thought poolesville was by wheaton? WTF are these places? |
No, it's not. If John Poole MS had 4 grades, it would have about 500 students. Poolesville HS had 1,183 students last year. So slightly over half of Poolesville HS (58%) is not zoned for Poolesville HS. |
No, Poolesville is in Poolesville. |
OMG. You people who are bashing Poolesville don't even know where it is! Maybe get basic information about the school--like it's LOCATION--before you declare its mediocrity. |
