Top 10 Schools in MoCo

1- WJ
2- BCC
3- Poolesville
4- Whitman
5- QO
6- Churchill
7- Wootton
8- RM
8- Northwest
9- Sherwood

-Signed a wootton parent who if we had to move again would choose WJ for its well-roundedness instead of Wootton which is believe it or not a toxic environment. Don't choose a school based on test scores but rather by looking at a school as a whole. All schools in MCPS offer students to succeed and a cut-throat environment is not always the best choice. Yes I love our school and the community but I feel like DC would have had a better high school experience at a different school.

Don't tell that to the W school parents! They believe their kids are smarter and that they care about education more than the upcounty parents.

I don't think it's that W school parents think Quince Orchard HS is Ganglandia. It's that Quince Orchard HS is in Gaithersburg, and there are people who think that all of Gaithersburg is Ganglandia. (They also probably think that all of Gaithersburg is east of 270...) Germantown is Ganglandia too, of course. And Clarksburg - after all, rapper Shy Glizzy came up in Clarksburg's gritty, mean, urban streets.

Ok, so just say it a different way: Gaithersburg is Ganglandia. QO is in Gaithersburg. Therefore, QO is gang-filled.

QO isn't in Gaithersburg though. It is in North Potomac. It draws from some areas of Gaithersburg though. Look on a map. It is pretty far from Gaithersburg and on the opposite side of the highway as well. It also draws from North Potomac and Darnestown.

I live in Gaithersburg. We are districted for QO. I don’t need to look at a map. It’s like you can’t accept that there are nice parts of Gaithersburg.

QO is in Gaithersburg:

15800 Quince Orchard Road
Gaithersburg, Maryland 20878
United States

Also, the above is exactly why I think people look down on Gaithersburg. They cannot accept that there are nice areas of it.

Yes I live in the Wootton cluster and the street next to mine goes to QO. And yes, we are far from Gaithersburg. Maybe 20 minutes or so. I don't think I've ever been to that area besides to get DD her permit. And when we had to go to Gaithersburg Middle School for a swim meet. Other than that I'd say most of QO is isolated from Gaithersburg and not even in Gaithersburg and most people probably have nothing to do with it. Similar to Travilah area with neighborhoods not really in a city but in a general area like Darnestown or Potomac.

Huh? You’re making no sense. QO is in Gaithersburg. I live in Kentlands, which is also in Gaithersburg. Why are you so opposed to the reality that Gaithersburg is a diverse place that has both nicer and tougher areas?

A lot of QO isn't in Gaithersburg. I don't live in Gaithersburg and a lot of my neighbors are districted for QO. Look up Jones Lane zone map. Some of those areas are definitely not Gaithersburg.

No that's about 10 minutes away. I'm saying the main area of Gaithersburg.

The main part? You mean the part you associate with Gaithersburg because it’s rougher?

I didn't know there was a main area of Gaithersburg. There's old town Gaithersburg and everything else from east to west. It's all Gaithersburg, from Lake forest Mall to Dogfish Head to Kentlands to Rio to Crown. All Gaithersburg.

Why anyone would consider BCC a 7 and Whitman a 4 a top school is beyond reason.

Any school is good as long as FARMs is below 25%.

Yes, it's true especially when you look at real-world outcomes like college admissions published by Bethesda Magazine.
