What is the most insulting thing someone has said to you?

I have no false assumptions about my brain and never have: I'm generally smart, well-read, and interested in the world but rocketsciencejobs.com isn't coming after me any time soon. I'm okay with that (which may or may not be a limitation of my good though not great intellect.) =D

This is a good though not great post.

Bahaa! I'm the OP of the "good though not great." Thanks for the giggle. =D

I'm glad you took it the right way.

I ran into the same woman on K ST! Older black lady?

No this was a youngish lady in her 20-30s.

Ex sounds like a total sexist b*T*H, you'll have no problem replacing her signed SAHM

Don't understand how this is offensive. (or shocking) I can't see how being mistaken for my child's nanny (esp. in a wealthy neighborhood where nannies are common) is offensive. It could be a compliment if it means you look young. Then again, I also don't understand why being mistaken for my child's grandmother is offensive either. After all, if I'd had a child at 20 and she'd had a child at 20, it could be my grandchild!

It's offensive because people assume I'm Hispanic (I am not) and that my child, who actually looks like me except for coloring, is not my child and that I am "the help". When I said shocked, I meant more that I was taken by surprised, rendered speechless, etc. because I wasn't expecting it.

It seems it is only offensive to you because the thought of being a nanny is offensive to you, as you view a nanny as being inferior to you. Being a nanny is actually not a terrible thing. And calling a nanny "the help" is pretty offensive on its own.

No it's offensive to her because people assume if you're Hispanic you must be the help. How do you not get this?

You sound amazing. She should be ashamed of herself, hey...her loss.

I went to visit my great grandmother in the nursing home when I was about 12. I am usually pretty pale, but had been swimming all summer and worked up a good tan.

I walked in and she said, "Oh darling, you are two dips short of a jigaboo."

Right in front of a black nurse. I was humiliated. I personally didn't feel insulted, but was embarrassed she had made a racial slur in from of someone who was black.

Ignoring the fact that nursing home workers get called racial slurs all the time.

I still hate nursing homes.

I remember being in 7th grade and this bitchy girl next to me pretty much called me ugly. I think her comment was somewhere along the lines of....

"I am really not trying to be rude, but she is the least cute girl in this class."

The teacher got onto her and the girl said, "I'm just telling the truth, she's not cute."

Then the teacher just said, "Well ok, but you don't have to say it."

It crushed me. I went through a very very awkward stage from 8 to about 14. I was so so self conscience till I graduated High School.

I also remember hearing three boys discuss all the girls in one of my classes (I was about 13 at this point). They were trying to decide where to place me, and I overheard one say, "Probably near the bottom, she just has a weird face."

Oh well, jokes on them. I may not be a beauty queen but I'm fairly confident in my looks nowadays.

His favorites are telling me that I suck as a mother, I suck at life, I'm so stupid he can't believe that I've made it this far, I'm fat and disgusting and it makes it hard for him to have sex with me, but what bothers me the most is when he talks to me really condescending like. It makes me want to punch him in the fact.

She starting looking around, I left the room, when I came back, she was in my bag! She made an excuse about thinking that I might have accidentally picked them up, but didn't realize it.
The rest of the day was awkward.
I feel violated enough that I am thinking about making a formal complaint.

WTF

Watch your back--never leave your personal belongings there

install a nanny camera

LOL I was the nanny mistaken for the Mom! But hey, my MIL appears to have mistaken me for the nanny at times.

My mom married my stepfather when I was 9 and he had older children. His daughter was around 20 at the time. One day all of my stepfather's family was over, including her, and we were sitting in the living room talking about something. I mentioned that I remembered my dad doing or saying something and she turned to me, in front of everyone, and said "oh, I thought you didn't know who your father was."

I still remember it to this day and it still pisses me off. I wish I could go back in time and give my 9-year old self the courage to bitch slap her.
