What's the best Democratic Presidential Archetype for 2028?

I agree and wish I hadn't opened it. Most of us will vote for ANY DEMOCRAT. Absolutely anyone. I won't vote for Newsom in the primary but if he is the nominee I will donate the max amount and campaign for him. If George Conway's daughter is the democratic nominee, she has my vote. Anyone but the party that brought us Donald Trump.

And before you say: you said that in 2020, didn't you learn your lesson? I don't care. The Republican Party has alienated me forever. You are ruining our country. I will never forgive you.

This sounds at least partly sarcastic and silly - but unfortunately it is part serious too. The fixation on superficial is why Dems keep losing.
You may not like Trump but at least he had a real plan and he is doing what he promised.

And it’s all been so fast…He got in there and executed on the plan (sadly).

Trump has the cult of personality. Don’t ever kid yourself that it’s about his policies. More and more, if he’s not on the ballot, his policies don’t win races.

you're free to think that, but I see it as exactly the opposite. Trump's policies (enforcing the border, for example) are supported by a healthy majority of Americans, but Trump's personality and the attacks on him, and his unforced errors are what kept the 2024 election, and the general political climate in our country, close to 50/50. If somebody younger, more likeable, and less controversial than Trump ran on the same policies, and the Democrats had a candidate like Ilhan Omar, Kamala Harris, Jasmine Crockett running on hard left policies like trans bathrooms, defunding the police, slavery reparations, DEI, open borders, Somali fraud, etc., the Republican would win in a landslide.

Let’s see:
Trans bathrooms - not a national issue. Maybe a local issue in a few specific areas.
Defunding police - never in the Democratic platform
Slavery Reparations - never in the Democratic platform
Somali fraud - not a “policy”, Democrats on record as needing to prosecute where it’s occurred
So… as is typical of Republicans, the majority of your points are lies and distortions taken from Fox News, rather than representations of what Democrats actually stand for.

a few years ago you would be right, but the Democrat base has moved so far left that it will be hard for a Democrat Presidential Candidate in 2028 to brush aside those 80/20 issues as easily as you do.
plus, you forgot to mention open borders and DEI, which will likely be a big part of the platform and are also losing issues for Dems.

You couldn't be more wrong. You're hooked on narratives that the GOP were able to successfully use to pin down the Dems while Biden was POTUS because Biden was an extremely weak leader lacking the ability to communicate to the American people to set the record straight when stupid talking points are circling. These talking points won't be effective when the Dems have a normal leader and they'll find that person in 2028.

In the meantime, elections will be a referendum on Trump through 2028 which means a repeat of 2018 and 2020. Been here. Done this. Presumably your memory doesn't go back that far.

Trump didn't make up the "stupid talking points" like cheering the murder of a CEO, "from the river to the sea," defunding the police, calling for violence against ICE agents, the "warmth of collectivism," and many others. you guys did and now you own them.

Trump rigged the election in his favor. Period. The end.

The Somali fraud is a hoax by a YouTuber known for pranks.

You’re right that Biden was incredibly weak, and if you’re able to see that, I assume you would say the same about Kamala Harris. Have you asked yourself why the Democrats chose two weak candidates in a row? Three of you count Hilary Clinton, who managed to lose an election that was supposed to be a slam dunk in her favor, and may be the most universally disliked person in US history. Why do Democrats resist running a candidate who is a strong, traditional, mainstream, likeable, competent, healthy, coherent person. Think John F. Kennedy or Bill Clinton as examples. Be honest. Why do Democrats refuse to run quality candidates anymore?

How can anyone make a comment like this when the other party selected Donald Trump THREE TIMES.

Donald Trump.

A not very smart, business guy who declared bankruptcy over 10 times, who is crass, who has a history of harassing woman, who is universally disliked, who has a clear personality disorder, who apparently has never heard of the word "groceries," whose only interest is HIMSELF... a man with no qualifications whatsoever. None. At least the democrats selected people with qualifications!

+1

Trump earned the 2016 nomination by campaigning vigorously in swing states with a populist message. His support since then is mostly a result of people digging their heels in and refusing to admit they were wrong. This tripling down with Trump support is a typical human instinctive response when being ridiculed by most of the world. There is 10% of the electorate who are the quacks that truly think he should be POTUS and then the rest of us are either never-Trumpers or people who don't want to admit they were wrong about Trump.

If the Dem Party had been functioning adequately since 2016, the GOP would have ditched Trump already in order to remain competitive because support ends quickly for politicians who have no chance of winning. Unfortunately, Dem Party weakness has given the Trump era in politics a longer life than it would have had otherwise.

I will vote for anyone who promises to hold a Nuremberg type tribunal for Trump and each and every one of his enablers. We have to deal with this pox once and for all.

If they didn’t do anything wrong, they won’t have anything to worry about. Glad I could clear that up.

I don’t think Chuck is going to make it in his current position in 2026 let alone the presidency in 28.

He has his Senate seat through 2028 and it's very possible he'll run and win again due to his strong support and relationships with mega-donors. Removing him from his Senate leadership position will be difficult as that would likely conflict with mega-donor wishes.

is the objective to appeal to moderates or to extremists? It will be hard to find a candidate who does both.

I think even the moderates want to crack a few eggs these days. The status quo has become so abhorrent in such a short time. Trump is making extremists out of soccer moms.

There are no Democratic “extremists”. Get your head out of your FoxNews ass.
