Scott Brabrand was Superintendent during Covid and there were a lot of folks unhappy with closed schools, online learning that often tearned out to be "learning" in name only, and their kids' loss of both academic and social skills. People felt strongly about it, enough so to try and recall several School Board members.

Even so, Brabrand never treated it as a pretext to demand a full-fledged security detail. Absent a persuasive confirmation of a real threat against Reid that can't be handled through the normal processes, this all feels highly performative and intended to chill parents from vocally opposing decisions by Reid and/or the School Board in the months leading up to the fall elections in Virginia.

Agree. It was much more dangerous during Covid. People were so angry about school closures and schools were used as a political target. Reid is not even the most important person in the county. No one else is asking for security details- not even board members who are much more targeted than Reid.

You have no idea what possible threats are being made and to who.

Zero. Otherwise, someone would be in lock-up. Or was there an anonymous note paper on her door that the media missed?

Reid MO hasn’t seem to have changed much in FCPS. In fact, she acts more emboldened. She will ignore federal mandates, and will also get her 24/7 taxpayer funded security detail regardless of what we think, or how we feel. In her own words, “Honestly, the majority doesn’t always dictate, right?”

What is the danger in telling is all what this threat is? If there are serious credible threats against her then if anything it might make us more empathetic and willing to have our tax money go toward this.
