Lutherans aren’t evangelicals, but I’ll happily accept this development. We can get the crisis pregnancy centers, Catholic hospitals providing substandard maternity care, and the Christian madrassas off the public teat, too.

They are indeed evangelicals. Educate yourself.

To no one’s surprise, “evangelical” = evangelical.

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread. There are main line Lutherans, so please don't be fooled by the title ELCA - Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. They are the church running refugee resettlement in the USA. They are a lot like Episcopalians. https://www.elca.org/about/what-we-believe/elca-faith-tradition

Then there are the the conservative evangelicals: The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. https://www.lcms.org/

It's not been overly active lately, but there is an entire thread on X called Trump Regrets. https://x.com/Trump_Regrets

The other one I've seen is on Meidas Touch Youtube: with Rich Logis: Leaving MAGA. https://leavingmaga.org/

I know y’all remember Butler County, Pennsylvania. Well there’s a company in Butler County called Iron Mountain and it process and storage all the federal government files for retirees. Iron Mountain is the largest employee in a county that voted two-thirds for Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Well Elon has alleged mismanagement and inefficiency at iron mountain the government contract is on the board for possible removal

I know a 42 year old woman who both-sided the election and decided not to vote. She was fired from her federal government job last week. She had 2.5 months (May2025) left on her probation period.

This sucks. I’m a fed (non MAGA) who already paid for airfare for my family to visit a national park this summer.

This administration is ruining every freaking thing nice about this country.

CSPAN Caller from West Virginia: I’m a diabetic and I’m on Medicare. When Biden was in there, my insulin was $6 for a 28 day supply. I just went to CVS, it went back up to $80…

🫶 so amazing

My cousin is a federal employee in the Atlanta area. He has worked for his agency for 20 years but was promoted 6 months ago, so was under a new probationary period. Just got laid off. He isn't MAGA, but always votes republican no matter what. I have been trying to talk sense into him for over 10 years and am having a hard time feeling much sympathy.

Not MAGA, sort of a side note to your comment: I think it’s nefarious that .. some who served in federal positions close to Biden (say, under a Biden appointee) found new jobs and are under probationary periods.. and were let go.

Thank him for sacrificing so we can MAGA…and suggest he retrain as a day laborer or orange picker.

Also, point out that the Republicans are telling everyone the only ppl let go were terrible, so he should have worked harder.

I grew up Lutheran. Our church was ALC--American Lutheran Church. There were two other mainstream Lutheran organizations, which all merged in the 80s to become the ELCA. We are a sedate people (I no longer belong but am sort of culturally Lutheran).
I went to someone's kids' church program once at a Missouri Synod and was flabbergasted to hear them sing "I'm no kin to no monkey no no, no monkey's kin to me."

Was out for drinks with a mixed group of friends and acquaintances tonight, some who supported Trump, including with some who found themselves on the wrong end of the DOGE cuts, and the one shrugged off being terminated by the DOGE bullshit and said "yeah well I've seen worse, they were shooting at me in Afghanistan." Another turned and looked at him square and said "same for me in Fallujah but it wasn't OUR OWN shooting at us." That crystallized it for the whole group. Now they are ALL pissed off at Trump and Musk.

Please stop threads like this. It FEELS good, but these are humans suffering.

That said, when you elevate stories like this a genius marketer (trump is) can easily pick several of the people who have been fired and have been public about it and change the narrative about how “generous” he is

Imagine the press of the IRS worker who just got fired being rehired and he talks about how amazing Trump was to reach out personally and get his job back….that will shut the whole FAFO movement up and boost trump.

Short term satisfaction should be exercised by energy at the ballot box and not at celebrating the misery of others

Does he also recall that it was a R who put our military in Afghanistan?

nah.. there are more stories of MAGA losing their "cushy" fed jobs than a handful getting their jobs back, at least for now.

I was in Dallas last week at a huge corporate center. The lobby had a huge screen, and as I was walking by the screen flashed something like 172,000 federal jobs in Texas. They are going to FAFO.
