There's a big difference between moving some responsibilities like mental health interventions and such from being primarily police responses to more appropriate people and "gutting" the police department. So again, show me your source.

Even police departments used to not want to solve *every* issue in the city, so I don't see how that's controversial.

Is there a debate scheduled hosted by a newpaper, or league of women voters, or some "everyone agrees this is unbiased" party? I've never heard of the Justice Lab but I would like to hear the candidates debate head to head.

DC Justice Lab wrote the crime bill struck down by Congress and Biden. The director takes credit for writing at least 3 other bills for the Council + talking points. They have an outsize influence and little transparency re: funders.
