The attacker had a history of drug abuse and previously lived in a storage container.

Looks like Youngkin didn’t get the memo.

He condemned it as well. As you know.

Youngkin is despicable MAGA trash. He doubled down this evening when given the chance to apologize and clarify his comments. Unclear what his fleece vest thought of this. Just as Jesus preached to his disciples I guess.

He didn't "double down" on anything. Do go on, though.

“As the governor clearly said, the assault on Paul Pelosi was wrong and there is no place for violence,” a spokesperson from the Governor’s Office said. “He wishes him a full recovery and is keeping the Pelosi family in his prayers.”

There was a "but" though

He was yelling “where’s Nancy“ while he tried to beat her husband to death. Not drugs. Not homelessness. Just evil. AKA, MAGA. Now, we can sit back and watch MAGA say he had it coming.

This poster was 100% right. MAGA ARE just a hideous breed

It's really very simple:

MAGAs are by far the group with the most violent rhetoric (proven by a study). Mentally ill and isolated people tend to be particularly vulnerable to hate speech, and a few act on it.

So it IS the responsibility of the right-wing crowd to temper their aggressive language, because they ARE triggers for some mentally ill people.

No other logical conclusion can be reached.

Conservative reaction to this is disgusting and not Christian at all, Hogan excepted.

I can’t say I’m really surprised though. Are you?

One of the big RW propaganda outlets has already moved into the conspiracy theory portion of this tragedy. I can’t bring myself to listen to the clip so who knows how the GOP nom for AZ gov replies.

The GOP has caused an assassination attempt on the 3rd in line of succession. This was a political assassination attempt. We need to see this for the klaxon it is. These people will not stop, Fox is making light of this, conspiracy theories are flying around the GOP.

Democrats: please go vote. Please get all of your Democratic friends, family and neighbors to go vote. Help people register. The GOP wants to hold this country’s head under water and drown us.

This offers some insight.

Lol conservatives have already lost the narrative on this story.

DePape has two recent blogs that regurgitate basically every MAGA rightwing conspiracy theory and talking point from the last 6 years. He was a homeless, mentally ill, drug addict….who was also radicalized by rightwing messaging in recent years.

None of these elements are exclusive of each other.

He's a nudist advocate too.

He sounds like he latched onto whatever extreme cause is most exciting at the moment.

I live in the SF Bay Area. I remember the nudist issue back in 2012. We were relatively new to the area and thought it was crazy back then, but now it’s not shocking for the area. It was a big deal for nudists because the city was trying to put restrictions on things like bare booties touching public seats like park benches and bus seats, and there was some restriction to do with being nude in restaurants. It seemed appropriate and minor to me, but I get how if you’re used to being able to do a thing legally and the government suddenly tries to place restrictions it could be upsetting. It wasn’t a violent issue or anything, just some naked people protesting about wearing clothes. It reminded me of how people would protest wearing seatbelts after seatbelt laws were passed more than anything. It was an issue practically everyone had an opinion about, and it got a big reaction on the news because it was about naked people and I’m pretty sure the restrictions said genitals and anus, so of course it’s going to get lots of attention. I don’t know how involved he got, but taking a pro nudity stance during that time isn’t necessarily an extremist position. Definitely not an indication that he’s on the verge of beating someone with a hammer.

Sorry, nudism in cities IS an extreme position, but I agree that nudists are not more or less prone to violence than the rest of the population.

One point I want to insist on:

Surgery to treat a skull fracture on an 82 year old man, and the blanket the airwaves with "he's going to make a full recovery"?

Yeah, no. An 82 year old brain does not recover completely from such an injury, and even if it did, there is no way to tell on the day of the injury and surgery.

Conservatives everywhere have denounced this horrible attack - you can stop spinning your false narrative. Far more conservatives, in fact, have genuinely condemned it than liberals did when Rand Paul was viciously attacked. But I get that it’s convenient to never mention that.

Why would they denounce something they have work so hard for? Conservatives are defending this as normal politics and this is what you get for not being a republican.

Read the attacker’s own blog posts again.

Interesting read on what happened to the attacker over the last ten or so years from an expert in online disinformation and radicalization reading his stuff.
