You posted a link in which it was explained the difference in gun control laws is used to explain why the Chinese attacks were/are so much less severe than us style massacres. |
Thank you for this explanation! My entire family owns firearms but no one has an AR-15. |
yes that is quite common, because the AR-15 is seen as primarily a defensive weapon because it's ammo is considered too weak for hunting. If you shoot a deer with it, it will dart away for another 500m before maybe collapsing, not what you want for hunting. |
ok, so if this was China instead of the US, 9 kids die from a crazy with a knife instead of a gun. will you push for knife control now? |
Major Harper on day 1 of Aerospace Studies to us AS100's. "The Air Force can not occupy the ground. You need boots on the ground for that." |
Are you dense? The point is that the attacks with assault weapons are much more deadly. In one of the stabbing attacks they discuss....24 children were stabbed and attacked with ZERO fatalities. |
Ok...so there are complaints about this weapon across the board so let's get rid of them. Sounds like everyone can agree that they suck regardless if you think they such because they are too powerful or if you think they suck because they are too weak. |
no need to occupy. just take out the threat to national security. |
People are clueless about the ar-15 body. There are tons of guns that shoot the .223 round and do the exact same thing as an AR. Probably the most common being the ruger mini-14 vermin ranch rifle. It has 30 or 50 round magazines just like an ar platform. The ruger just does not look as cool and most (older versions) have a wood stock.
Talking about one style of gun because it is the gun of choice of psychos is not going to change anything. Raising the age limit, adding a waiting period for first time buyers and enhanced background checks are a good start. Kind of like the hand gun limits…although in Virginia you can buy 5 at a time if you have a concealed carry permit, which is kind of odd. |
Sounds good, tell some Republicans. |
We will settle for whatever the previous ban covered plus any new offerings of the same ilk since it expired in 2004. |
Economy is imploding and all they talk about is guns and abortion |
Most likely what one would see is what happens in California but on a national scale. You get an ugly looking rifle that functions the same. |
Assault weapons ban literally did/does nothing. There are like 500 studies that resulted in inconclusive or not statistically significant on gun crime for the 10 year ban. Only thing they agreed on in a few was Mexico saw a spike in cartel shootings/deaths when the ban was lifted.
Columbine happened during the ban with banned high capacity clips and magazines. Some basic common sense laws are more important than banning one type of gun. I mean, aren’t land mines banned in the world? That has worked out great. |
assault weapons have nothing do with lethality of a weapon shot at kids at point blank range. You think this would be any different if the shooter had a 9mm pistol instead? A rifle's only benefit is that it can engage targets at longer ranges, which was not the case here. Most mass shooters have historically used handguns, like Cho and Elliot Rodgers. |
