You missed the polling on this earlier in the thread. The public isn’t as ready as you think they are. |
That's not what I'm hearing. Most people are over Diana and have moved on. They don't care about this as much as the obsessed tabloids would have you believe. |
Anecdotes are not data. |
You’re scoffing at something that no one has said but you. At least in Camilla’s case, she was thrilled to introduce herself as the relative of a previous royal mistress. She, and possibly her husband, seemed flattered to —‘em — do their best to support members of the royal family. |
Seeing as Charles was single at the time, it seems like a cute thing to say at the time. But you're still skirting the issue. Diana has had married lovers too. Are you feeling as much resentment for the wives of these men? Doesn't DCUM hate women who sleep with married men? If that's why you hate Camilla, why does Diana get a pass for sleeping with married men? |
Where is the data that everyone is upset about this? |
I agree with you. Diana acted horrible which really surprised me knowing how she was treated. Not only that but she slept with some real losers. That one that did a tell all whose character was horrendous. And sadly right to the end Diana was with another loser instead of being home with her kids. I did admire her for her charity work which she took seriously unlike the hated M.M. whose only goal was to score a dimwitted prince. Still that doesn't absolve Charles and Camilla for the scam they pulled on Diana who thought she was going to have a real marriage. Camilla wasn't any prize, and like someone that does a hit and run it doesn't clear them just because it's years after the fact. Camilla like any women that sleeps with someone married is beneath contempt, and I'm sure Karma has or will catch up to her as well. |
She found jewelry with two intertwined Cs on the HONEYMOON. Wedding was already done and the BRF doesn’t do annulments. |
Because Charles flat out lied about it for a decade then when he married the mistress - lied again and said she would not be Queen - only Princess Consort. Don’t want people bringing up the affairs, stop dragging the mistress out. |
Soon you can refer to her as Queen Camilla. Get used to it. |

I’m not really into the Royals stuff but the dislike for Camilla may be simply that she is unlikable. Celebrity likability is actually measured by Hollywood for actors. It’s a combination of appearance, public personality and other factors. Camilla’s has got to be really low. People may not be hung up on Diana but they know she was beautiful, could connect with people and probably had a sky high likability score.
In todays world of celebrity culture, it seems it’s very disappointing to people that they will end up with a 2 / Camilla when they know they could have a 10/ Diana. What’s surprising to me is how bad the PR teams are surrounding the royals. For a group of people whose lives depend on the public’s opinion, you’d think they would take this more seriously. They either hire people who are terrible at PR but stroke their egos or there literally is nothing to work with so even a good PR team would fail. |

Like it or not, people have come around to Camilla. It's been a long road but people have warmed up.
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-60279761 "Since then, Camilla has won over a cautious public. She has been praised for championing her own causes and interests, including supporting literacy charities, animal welfare and organisations helping victims of domestic abuse" https://news.sky.com/story/camilla-from-mrs-parker-bowles-to-the-next-queen-consort-12534245 "But as she has carved out her own royal role and been accepted by the rest of the family, the mood towards her has softened." |
Sweetie, I’ve made one comment. I’m not “still” skirting anything. I also don’t “hate” Camilla, and I am hardly representative of DCUM. FWIW, I, personally, don’t give Diana a pass for sleeping with married men, although for a variety of reasons, I have much sympathy for her, and little for Charles. I’ll add, too, that I hold the deepest disdain for the married person who is breaking their vows, particularly when this also involves deceiving their spouse. |
Wow! This sounded almost reasonable— except for the gratuitous slam at someone with a lifelong history of advocacy work. Everything else is on point! Especially the bit about Karma. |
Charles didn't think ahead of how much his lies impacted his kids. The one is very messed up. The cheating and deception had a domino effect. |
