ECNL moving to school year part 2

I think theres a very good chance that Leagues and clubs provide some type of guidance that younger players should play with their grade in school team. It just makes sense to gently push players into a grade in school grouping so clubs are ready when college recruiting starts. Also how would you handle a freshman in HS that's playing on an 8th grade team but also playing in HS? Its the inverse of the current BY trapped players when they're in 8th grade. But it doesnt really matter because coaches ie clubs will choose rosters not parents. Thet might say that they're going to give Aug birthdays a choice to play up or down. But the reality will be you have the choice to play on your grade ECNL or ECRL team or not play on your grade ECNL or ECRL team.

Im sure some parents will search out playing down but nobody is going to want to cater to it. if the player was good enough for the grade down ECNL team they should definitely be able to play on their own grades ECRL or ECNL team.

I think a rule will happen as well. Just because it makes things easy for recruiting.

Our club (big MLSN/GA club in SoCal with 120+ teams) will have a 1 day new age group evaluation practice next week for all ages. Our DOC has communicated to us that all individuals will need to petition for exception to stay with current teams, and will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

And because we are in SoCal, all August kids will be in the "wrong grade".

Before you accuse me as a liar, the club is SoCal Reds FC, I trust that you can find the contacts to verify.

Ah-ha, this is a way to lessen the power of SoCal teams if all Aug players have play up in a Aug-Jul system!

So what your club is saying is that they will choose who rosters on which team.

This means they can do anything with any justification. They might keep all playera with their grade. They might just choose to keep some with their grade.

Parents aren't the deciders.

If SoCal Reds is changing doesn’t that speak loudly for MLSN AD?

Everybody plays on age. Petitions to play up will be considered.

Huh???!!! It means the exact opposite.

Players has to petition the club to stay with old teams.

For Aug players, they will go to "younger" BY DEFAULT, unless they file a petition, pending approval by the club.

OP here. It is just an 1 day "evaluation" , you can interpret for whatever it is.

The club has both MLSN1 and MLSN2

OP here, let me clarify. The new age group evaluation is for both boys and girls. But the new age group rules are communicated to us GA parents.

So by default if there is an Aug Birthday playing on their correct grade BY team Socal Reds are going to force that player to play a grade down a grade unless the player or parent petitions to stay with their correct grade BY team.

You dont see why this is an issue. 🤔

Because it's the correct AGE group. You don't see what's wrong with forcing a kid to play up?

They’re not forcing them to do anything other than play in their correct age range. If they’re good enough to play up they will

Not an issue, same policy. Everybody plays on age, except kids that can play on top teams a year up.

Ok so how will a player playing down a year from everyone else in their graduating year get recruited for college?
