Really? "A lot of cope on this one," is a useful comment? |
It’s more useful than saying there isn’t a difference between the two leagues. |
You should behave on the street like you do here. You'll figure it out. And I don't mean your street, the street. |
| question: can you be fully registered with a GA team and a US Club team (ECNL)? Or do you have to be only fully registered with 1 team in say ECNL and can guest play with another in another league say GA? |
GA allows ECNL (or any league) players to guest play with their teams. However after (I think it's 4-5) games players will need to commit to GA and roster with the team they're guesting with. But for 1-2 games no big deal. ECNL does the same for players from leagues. They call it the Discovery program. |
| GA is under USSSA. ECNL is US Club. Completely different player cards. |
Different leagues. You can play both. |
| Does anyone know rules regarding a current ECNL player whose club is moving to GA next year do they need to follow the ECNL tryout rules and date of May 1? I asked for permission for my daughter to attend training at another ECNL club and our director said no…. |
For this year, yes. Next year no. |
DP has nothing to do with being a guest player. A Discovery Player is part of the team, but the player resides 200 miles outside of the club. My kid was a DP with CF, was great, but the travel was killing her. |
Call it what you want. A Discovery player is playing with an ECNL team and likely another team from a different league at the same time. Many people call this guesting. The only difference is that they're listed on the roster. But, if they don't work out for whatever reason they can be removed. Again some people call this guesting. I'm sure ECNL and clubs want Discovery to seem like a permanent fit. But players can leave any time. My kid plays on a top GA team + we tried an ECNL team as a Discovery player. It became 100% clear after guesting with the ECNL team that the coach wasn't into developing players + was just looking to recruit. My kid was one of the best on the team so it didn't matter where she played. She decided to stick with the GA team because the ECNL was changing every 6 months and the coach wasn't developing anyone. |
I understand you can play both but can you play both full time? are there any US Soccer rules against it? |
Probably no rules against it, but logistics and wear would be a huge concern. |
| I've seen it done at u13 but at some point one club is not going to want to share a player for more than 1 year so its short lived even if you can make it happen. |
Not true |
