GA allows ECNL (or any league) players to guest play with their teams. However after (I think it's 4-5) games players will need to commit to GA and roster with the team they're guesting with.

But for 1-2 games no big deal.

DP has nothing to do with being a guest player. A Discovery Player is part of the team, but the player resides 200 miles outside of the club. My kid was a DP with CF, was great, but the travel was killing her.[/quote]
Call it what you want.

A Discovery player is playing with an ECNL team and likely another team from a different league at the same time. Many people call this guesting. The only difference is that they're listed on the roster. But, if they don't work out for whatever reason they can be removed. Again some people call this guesting. I'm sure ECNL and clubs want Discovery to seem like a permanent fit. But players can leave any time.

My kid plays on a top GA team + we tried an ECNL team as a Discovery player. It became 100% clear after guesting with the ECNL team that the coach wasn't into developing players + was just looking to recruit. My kid was one of the best on the team so it didn't matter where she played. She decided to stick with the GA team because the ECNL was changing every 6 months and the coach wasn't developing anyone.
