Again, Overton should be fired right now. He should not be on school property for tonight’s game. At a minimum, in every other profession, a leave of absence is ordered immediately, where there is an ongoing investigation. The SB is derelict in not demanding this.

Reid is standing by her man. She fully supports Hayfield and Overton.

That is probably what the athletic director is about. They put him up as fall guy.

PP who mentioned someone losing their job - I don't think the AD will be enough of a fall guy.

But I also don't think Reid will lose her job. It will be others in the Hayfield administration. Otherwise, as someone mentioned upthread, they're going to have academic staffing issues.

As a teacher, I would be very reluctant to apply for a position at Hayfield at this point. There have been allegations of staff intimidation and longtime staff members transferred to other positions, all related to this scandal. This makes me question the leadership of the school, and it is not an environment I would want to teach in. It makes wonder what else is going on at this school. There is a teacher shortage, and fully credentialed and experienced teachers have options.

There was a meeting in the spring where the teachers were literally told to shut up and not talk about anything or else.

No way that is enough. He is a nobody. But, He is smartly leaving the country, outside FFX court subpoena power.

I hope the Edison kids just stand there, set the ball down and clap sarcastically when the Hayfield kids score.

Real fall guy or guys will probably be revealed during or after the external investigation. Just as long as Reid and the SB can pretend to be shocked, shocked I tell you and assure WTOP (who parrots the FCPS party line pretty well) that their hands are clean.

Let’s stop pretending Hayfield is playing tonight. It’s PME versus Edison. And with Battlefields QB injury I think unfortunately Oscar Smith is the only team that might be able to hang.

We've already seen what FCPS "external investigations" look like and they are BS.

If I was writing this script, I would go this route.
And Apostle Karen would be handling snakes on the sidelines speaking in tongues.

And one of the staff was “promoted” when she asked questions. The security guy was “promoted” before Overton hired for that same job. The 30 some kids transferred in after Overton was hired. A van was seen picking up and dropped off kids going between Woodbridge and Hayfield…. So many coincidences.

VHSL found Hayfield guilty of cheating so its not an accusation at this point: its a statement of fact.

Well they shouldn’t have, which is why the Commonwealth courts issued the injunction.

This is patently false. The injunction was issued due to a procedural matter with the VHSL. If corrected by Dec 4th, the real fun begins, and hopefully the truth comes out.... ALL OF IT

How will they correct the procedural matter? Go back and do another ban of some sort following their own handbook?

The issue was that it was initiated by the director and not a committee. All they need to do is initiate again with a committee backing

They’re playing a school whose boundaries have essentially the same median income and is located less than 3 miles away.

Not exactly a huge trek required.

Edison has significantly more FARMs kids than Hayfield

I think Edison has the recently renovated building however.

Well, so does Justice, but the beautiful campus is half-empty b/c no one wants to attend school there.

I thought FCPS just opened a gleaming new addition there with large windows that overlook the football stadium.

Anonymous wrote:My theory is that Reid/FCPS SB was advised they'd very likely be sued (and sued successfully!) if they tried to actually investigate the transfer students. Can you imagine the optics if the media got wind that the system removed or suspended "homeless" students, especially if they were all students of color? That then puts the school district in the unpleasant place of basically knowing that Hayfield is rotten but needing to stick to the original VHSL ruling to save face. When the VHSL changed its mind (for whatever reason), FCPS then had to double down on the defensiveness.

While I'm no Reid cheerleader and I pretty much despise the SB, I do feel for them in that this has been a no-win situation for them from the start.
Re “feel for them”, it’s a paid position, so if they can’t handle the heat, “get out of the kitchen.”

SB controls the purse strings, so regardless of whether the kids play, Overton, Hayfield principal, and AD should have fired immediately when the VHSL ban came down. They should not get another dime FFX tax dollars, given the huge mess they made.

Apparently in court filings VHSL was pretty clear that they think there was collusion between the AD, principal, and Overton. Or so the Fairfax Times says.

Yep, but they were so stupid they couldn't keep their stories straight. YIKES.

And for as slow as everyone goes, Fritts will be unavailable for any interviews/discovery and will be undue burden to involve him in any investigation once he skips town.

That’s amazing as he will be overseas in Bali or Greece or who knows. Nicely played.
