First of all, a few? News and youtube are flooded with examples of racism and violence towards Black people in the U.S.
And lol, that is not how bad it is!
You are right! That is just a snippet, a few videos compared to how bad it really is!!!
Thinking that we see more than there really is!
No, we see nothing compared to what it really is.
Virginia is for racists, no, should that not be changed based on this thread only?

You're all fired up. Good! Go fight white supremacy today!

But leave the kids, the White kids and the Black kids, the Hispanic kids and Asian kids, all the kids, leave the kids alone.

The kids see that too.

I think we should start with the parents (look at all of the racism deniers on here), but kids should certainly learn about racism and biases too. They will handle it better than the parents because they aren’t fraught with white fragility yet.

All the casual references to white supremacists and white fragility (and lumping in many Asians as "white-adjacent" and calling their kids "toxic") is what is going to get Republicans elected in upcoming state/local elections. Good job, folks.

Many places, including schools, want to implement anti-racism training to raise awareness of biases and systemic racism. How is this an issue?

Who exactly is “obsessed” with this? Seems like the GOP is trying to whip this up into an “issue”.

If you want to vote GOP that’s fine. Grow TF up and own it though.

DP. I’m happy to “own it.” I’ll absolutely be voting Republican in the VA governor’s race this fall, and I can’t wait to do so. Especially a Republican who clearly and plainly states that CRT has no place in our schools.

Yes, because raise awareness of biases and systemic racism is just so horrible.

Is anyone stupid enough at this point to believe CRT is just a harmless, anodyne program of "raising awareness"?

The school system that doesn't do a particularly good job of fulfilling its primary mission of basic education needs to focus on that mission, not get diverted into political indoctrination.

Can you explain to be how it’s political indoctrination?

Waste of time. If it needs to be explained to you, then you are incapable of understanding the explanation.

Anyone read this article on the subject? Talks about LCPS parents and how some are freaking out about it and totally don’t get it.

+100
Apparently, the PP is stupid enough.

Sometimes I can't tell if we're in VA or Mississippi. Maybe it's all the same.

Normally when people say this, they have no idea what they're talking about.

DP. Because of the way they're doing it.

Only wish the current GOP candidates in Virginia weren't idiots. Oh well.

How is FCPS doing it? What does the training look like?

No one knows. It's just 23 pages of people speculating.

I hope it isn’t anodyne or harmless. There are plenty of people in Fairfax who need to have their worldview seriously harmed— you realize that you had neighbors storming the Capitol *under confederate flags* on January 6 right? That Virginia has textbooks saying how benign slave holders were to their “property”? Seems to me the time is well past due for some uncomfortable truths.

How does telling a bunch of UMC kids that they’re privileged change society at all? Do you think they don’t realize it?

Right. That is all that this is about. You like your privilege and can't stand the idea of not having an advantage.

This is me! I'm doing the same thing at the next election. I'm not white but the wrong kind of brown. Every time an Asian is assaulted in New York or SF, the comments I see on various social media is appalling.. Most are focused on making sure that the BLM name is not tarnished but show zero sympathy towards the victim!

In a way, I thank Trump for making me realize that the rest of the Republicans are not so bad after all..

Disgusting.

So you're calling all the many Never Trumpers in the DMV disgusting? That's...special.
