Do as I say, not as I do.

I would bet her in-laws got her an attorney and PR firm to handle this. I see many of her friends liking her apology post on Instagram. Are we sure they're mad at her?

Olivia Pope wouldn't have written that Instagram apology. It doesn't go far enough and it's full of demonstrable lies.

Have the caterers lost their business license?

Wow, 8 guests out of the presumed 22? Or are some of those 8 secondary to the infected guests?
And the kids and parents at the backyard camp, did they get tested? How much overlap between the 2 sets of people?

I don't care about how much money they have or their divorces or how much of a shot one has at becoming a 38 y/o influencer, but wow, this is an amazing case study, and such a wasted opportunity to learn more about transmission.
To make amends, instead of the empty "I hope you learn from my mistake", I wish she'd let us actually learn about the disease. Let the scientists draw a diagram of the tables, who got sick, and the catering staff (who actually were wearing masks if I recall correctly from upthread), photographer, what contacts of the guests, caterers, photographer, got sick. It would also give us so much valuable life-saving data to learn more about transmission when she recorded the Gala video earlier that day and about transmission in groups of outdoor kids, to learn more about the backyard camp. Is that where she got it? Did she give it to kids there?

Agreed. The mayor and law enforcement should comment on this, but probably won't since she's wealthy. Ashley has so many friends in the media who are probably refuse to cover this....even from a disease perspective.

Can she be jailed? I want to see her jailed.

Wow her Instagram was not what I was expecting after reading the article calling her a DC "It girl" and socialite!

It's not very glamorous. She looks like every other basic SAHM around here.

Same.

Anyone else surprised by this? I was expecting an Instagram like Olivia Palermo or someone.

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced a stay-at-home order for the District, and anyone found violating it could be subject to a fine of up to $5,000, jail time up to 90 days, or both.

But according to Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson Kristen Metzger, unless individuals are “egregiously violating the order,” MPD officers won’t be arresting or fining social distancing violators. “Arrest is the last resort here,” Metzger says. “We’re really just trying to educate people. It’s more about the safety and well-being of people rather than enforcement and arresting and fining people. If someone’s egregiously violating the order, then we will consider the option of arrest. But there’s a couple levels that it has to go through before the arrest can be made. If you’re directly asking someone to disperse the party, and there’s a gathering of 10 or more people and they refuse, that might be an instance.”

I'm not an attorney, but I'd say Ashley "egregiously violated the order".

They're not going to arrest or fine her, are you kidding? She's rich and well connected.

If I was one of the declining invitees, I would feel a teensy bit guilty now for not sending the police over to them that night.

You are all terrible for commenting on her looks. Why is that an issue here? What she did was stupid, sure, but I am not sure what her looks have to do with it. Women tearing down women. You catty woman are all jealous of her life. Her family looks lovely. As for not being looking instagram perfect, she is NOT an influencer. Why would we expect her to be instagram account to look like one? I actually find her down to earth lifestyle very refreshing. They may have a lot of money but it isn't flashy. She is at the end of the day a mom like you and I. I respect that.
I do however hope that she also has enough common sense to pay some of that extra $$ to the catering staff and the photographer for the risky situation she and the catering company put them in. And also donates to some non-profits helping those less fortunate in this situation in general.

No one is commenting on her looks. They're commenting on the quality of her public photos which are not that great. But beyond that, I think people are reacting to the unbelievable level of entitlement, obliviousness, and selfishness to throw a big party at a time when you weren't supposed to have gatherings of more than 10 with no masks or any measures set up to even attempt at social distancing.

At the time that she had the party, officials were saying you could have a couple people in your backyard if you all sat six feet apart and wore masks. What she did (plus the summer camp thing) is just beyond belief.

I'm sure those donations will be in her next Instagram press release.
