Which summer swim clubs are opening (nova)

same here! Our community pool won't allow under 18 but our swim club lined up practice at an outdoor pool that does.

My kids started already.

I meant our summer swim team is practicing since we opened for phase 1. 6 kids per 30 minute time slots Spread out all morning. Not all kids wanted to continue but it’s happening.

WTF is "facilitated fun with stationary participants observing physical distancing"? Simon Says in the pool? I truly do not understand what that would be. They specifically list that separately from water aerobics. Whoever wrote these guidelines clearly does not spend much time at pools.

I think facilitated fun with stationary participants observing means parents watching their kids play in the pool.

Oh. So you read that as the stationary participant is doing the observing of the other. I was reading it as “stationary participant” being the person playing while observing or maintaining distancing.

Very confusing? But I like your way better.

But the guidelines say that recreational swimming is not allowed. Isn't playing in the pool recreational swimming? And what kid is stationary while they are playing in a pool? Facilitated fun sounds like someone leading people in some sort of organized activity where they stay mostly upright in the water. Or maybe synchronized swimming? I am really struggling to understand what falls in this category.

Parents can facilitate fun by giving their kids noodles to play with or dive toys to get from the bottom.

I really don’t see how swimming lessons are OK but not regular swimming. Swimming lessons are close contact between non household members.

How are indoor gyms safer than outdoor pools?

There were not written with neighborhood pools in mind.

It’s like these were written with indoor gym pools or rec center or public pools in mind.

Yeah these guidelines are maddening. So many ways to interpret. We laughed about a pool dividing up the pool with ropes into 12 sections and each family using one. LOL then sitting together on deck.

I really thought there would be a difference between indoor and outdoor. Are the Rec centers even allowed to open? Did you see the guidelines on gyms? It’s also silly.

And if pools can open indoors, why do club teams need to use the outdoor pools?

Well free swim is allowed. What is the difference between free swim and recreational swim?

I agree with those who say these were not written with outdoor membership pools in mind. As a board member the more I read these the more frustrated I get.

The stationary fun reminds me of resort hotels like clubmed, where the leader leads the group in fun water cheers and dances.

Where are the families all sitting with each other on decks?
