Palin was set to be a keynote speaker at the gala, but canceled because of how there is a freaking pandemic. She was replaced by Matt Gaetz, whom I am not entirely convinced is not a Funko Pop! doll who was granted a wish to become a real boy. The event took place not in New York but rather in New Jersey, at the Maritime Parc in Liberty State Park in Jersey City. In New Jersey, while in-person events with more than 10 people are banned, exceptions are made for "religious and political activities protected under the First Amendment," allowing for 150 people or 25 percent occupancy of a space. |

Illinois has 1088 deaths per capita, TX 784. Don’t get me wrong, Illinois is still a long ways a way from from reaching NY,NJ or MA records, but it’s working at rapid speed to smash them. If only someone had asked them to wear masks, sigh. |

Numbers are deaths per million. NJ: 1,958 (averaging 4.7 per day over the last week) NY: 1,793 (3.2 per day) MA: 1,583 (5.6 per day) CT: 1,443 (7.4 per day) LA: 1,409 (5.3 per day) RI: 1,334 (8.8 per day) MS: 1,316 (5.6 per day) ND: 1,298 (15.0 per day) SD: 1,203 (29.7 per day - I think they had a death dump sometime this week tho) IL: 1,088 (11.6 per day) MI is in 11th, with 1,013 deaths per million, but at only 12.5 per day, won't catch up with the leaders anytime soon. By the end of January, ND will take its place atop the death charts. Other states worth following: IN - 10 per day, MN 10.4 per day, NE - 13.4 per day, NM - 13.9, WY - 10.4 IN is in 15th, MN is in 29th, NE is in 33rd, NM is in 22nd, and WY is in 43rd. But they'll have to die harder in order to move up on the leaderboard. Truly remarkable, this experiment in herd immunity the Dakotas are running. They may well start brushing up against it by the time the vaccine reaches the masses. Given SD's positivity rate which has been running over 30% (!) percent for weeks now, hasn't been over 10% since August, and went over 60% (!!!) earlier last month, I suspect SD is the real champion at the freedom to catch COVID. |

IL is trying hard to win Death Race 2020 but they're weighed down by Chicagoland which isn't trying hard enough to deny the virus' severity. the Dakotas don't have any major cities holding them back. |

I'm not sure why anyone wants to compete over which states have the most deaths, especially since the majority of NYC's deaths happened in the spring when healthcare workers knew less about how to care for covid. More people are surviving the ICU because of the hard working health care workers who developed best practices |
