Student attacked with taser in Oakton HS locker room

Does anyone with kids at OHS know if there have been any safety measures put into place in the locker rooms as a result of this? Supervision?

One would hope.

He has an IEP and is supposed to be able to go to his “safe place” when he is having a panic attack. But in this case since they were practicing hiding from active shooters he wasn’t allowed.

Wow, just wow.

That's terrible. I'm so sorry he's been treated this way.

This makes me think that FCPS really needs to get a grip on violent behavior on school grounds. If we don’t as a county reign in this BS behavior, these kinds of acts will become more common place.

Not comparing FCPS to NYC schools, but it is a slippery slope.

Are there any updates about increased safety measures? My 8th grade daughter heard about this incident and is now even more freaked out about high school.

And any more about the rumors that some of the kids involved were moved to other area high schools (not to "alternative" high schools)? That got mentioned then dropped entirely earlier in the thread. If someone has first-hand knowledge this has happened, please post.

The parents will NOT go to jail or pay a big fine. The victim parents, however, can sue them in civil court for damages and take their house.

You may wish that to be the case, but it’s most assuredly not going to happen in Virginia.

When your child reports being attacked on school grounds, CALL POLICE and file a police report immediately. Do not wait to contact the school first. School systems have restorative justice procedures that conflict directly with evidence preservation and accurate witness reports. The result is that if the school starts their procedures before police arrives, it is harder to get a conviction for the perpetrators and justice for the victims.

This is absolutely TRUE, particularly for private schools. Anytime your kid is assaulted on school grounds, CALL POLICE!

This was during the school day, in the locker room after a 9th grade PE class. It is not clear when the school learned of it but multiple videos were widely circulated among students (Snapchat, etc) in the past week.

#&%^(@(&^%^ criminal jerks!
Our current culture is more and more encouraging bullies and a cheering audience! Just watched a video that put together all of our dear leader "moments" of swears, threats, etc. How can we educate our kids when you have a bully in chief? It breaks my heart!

Oh, please. This is not about Trump.

How long was he suspended for? That's insane. They are supposed to consider whether the behaviors were related to his disability.

Also, how many times has something like this happened? Was the teacher injured?

In both our former schools the policy was to deny bullying. The instigators were parents who donated $$ to keep the adm quiet. Does it sound like corruption?

From now on, I will.
