I don't about individual to individual and whether McLean or VDA have 05 that could make the top 18 at FCV 05 but I do know that if FCV played McLean or VDA 05 the score would be ugly in FCV's favor. That is a very very good team. Success in the MA division of ECNL is not indicative of very much. That is very weak conference. |
+1 Very true. |
LOL. FCV parents patting each other on the back instead of stabbing each other in the back. |
No need to pat anyone on the back. You do know that you can go watch the teams play? And that there is no fee to watch? And you can even find games on the internet. I have watched enough youth soccer (training and games) in the last decade of top teams on both boys and girls side (about 50% of teams that my kids didn't play on) to educate myself. If you just watch your team and your league play, then you have no idea what else is out there. And if you haven't watched coaches run a training, then you have learned even less. Go watch if you are that interested. If not, just find a place that is good for your kids. No biggie. |
We will never know. Area da, edp, ecnl teams scrimmage each other all the time but FCV won’t. Too busy having sideline brawls to bother playing someone other than ARL or Metro U. FCV 05 picked up a kid cut by one of the area ecnl teams FYI. |
Thanks for the advice Bobby |
According to their website, there are 6 committed in class of 2020 from the GDA at FCV. Not sure how up-to-date this is. 5 play on the U19s (all playing up): schools Duke, VT, UVA, WF, W&M 1 plays on the U17s: College of Charleston |
For 2020, I see the following on the U18/19 team: Penn UVA Penn State W&M X 2 Duke Va Tech X 2 Towson Navy Wake Forest I don't see any for the 02/03 team listed. The 2019 grads: WVU Va Tech X 3 W&M X 2 Rochester West Chester Christopher Newport West Point |

I wish people would give FCV the credit it deserves. Considering that the club has produced talented players and teams over the years including Emily Fox. That 05 team is very strong and can go up against the best anywhere. Hell, Brazil was crushed by Germany in 14 w/o Neymar. If those teams had played nine more times, I doubt Germany would have come anywhere near that goal count. FCV has some very talented players.
McLean has had a strong season considering that the team was rebuilding. I agree that the ECNL MA conference is not the strongest, as witnessed by most of the teams placing in the bottom 15 team in the entire SC Showcase in early May. Give CW credit for getting that the 05 team to a very competitive level. They were at the bottom of ECNL the year before and finished in 2nd place this year. The team won the August Cup where it beat MRM Rush and then finished as a finalist in the very competitive Champions bracket at JefCup. McLean and FCV represent the best in their leagues in the DMV. |
Jesus, nobody is denying the success of FCV in the past. The future of FCV aid what is being discussed. It is a Apples to Oranges discussion to discuss the success of teams formed when FCV was in a two horse race for elite talent. 05 represents the last year that FCV had unfettered access to elite players before ECNL expanded. Most of Loudoun’s 05’s had trained with and had been picked over by FCV before Loudoun’s ECNL was announced. The 06 FCV team is far from dominant and the 07 team by all reports failed to attract much if any real outside interest. The 08 team seems unremarkable in rankings, actually behind GFR’s team as well as Loudoun Arlington etc. The 09 team is mostly invisible and well behind Loudoun, Arlington, McLean and GFR. So where are the players going to come from when the early evidence is showing that players are simply staying put at their starting clubs? FCV is no longer a destination club moving forward. |
Easy there. If you know the player and family, you know she wasn't "cut". She one of, if not there best player. There is one other player that is very good that turned down FCV last year. But those two are 1a and 1b. Don't fool yourself with "cut". |
For 2020, I see the following on the U18/19 team: Penn UVA Penn State W&M X 2 Duke Va Tech X 2 Towson Navy Wake Forest I don't see any for the 02/03 team listed. The 2019 grads: WVU Va Tech X 3 W&M X 2 Rochester West Chester Christopher Newport West Point The bolded sentence is the answer to the question. The rest is just window dressing, trying to make FCV look better. And it's also the answer for why those claiming FCV's U17s could beat either BRYC or MCLean's U17s are delusional. |
She was absolutely cut......I understand that doesn't fit your vision of things as her parent, but it is true nonetheless....... |
The bolded sentence is the answer to the question. The rest is just window dressing, trying to make FCV look better. And it's also the answer for why those claiming FCV's U17s could beat either BRYC or MCLean's U17s are delusional. It would certainly appear that the stronger D1 commitments play up to the higher teams except for FSU from McLean. So your argument based on what I can find is not valid re: U17s at McLean and BRYC being better. Lets see BRYC's 2020 group: East Carolina - U17 Binghamton - U18/19 Navy - U18/19 Coastal Carolina - U17 Princeton - U18/19 McLean: Penn State - U18/19 Florida State - U17 Air Force - U18/19 That is the extent of what I could find. Now FCV (I can't find the college of Charleston commit): Penn - U18/19 UVA - U18/19 Penn State - U18/19 W&M X 2 - U18/19; U18/19 Duke - U18/19 Va Tech X 2 - U18/19; U18/19 Towson - U18/19 Navy - U17 Wake Forest - U18/19 |
Well lucky for FCV. Hope those NVSC players fill the void
