Isn't the fact that he's "probably liked by a lot of Whites" a critical element needed to win the general election? What is wrong with "White Old Men" as long as they are making good decisions?

In my experience, White Old Men (WOM) have not made right policies for everyone. They have made policies and compromises that benefits White Old Men. They are more autocratic, selfish and narcissistic. So, if I have choice between a generic WOM and someone else, the other one wins a brownie point...of course I will scrutinize their policies before voting. But as a nation, it is my firm belief that, we need to move away from electing the WOM to progress as a nation where EVERYONE's "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness" is weighed equally.

But the title of this thread is "Which Dem can win general election in 2020?", not "Which Dem do you want to win the general election in 2020?"

I don't care if the candidate is white, if the candidate is old, or if the candidate is a man. I want the Democratic candidate most likely to defeat Trump.

And my argument is Biden has serious baggage to do that. I am not saying that I would not vote for Biden if he is the Democratic candidate. I love Biden - but I would prefer a different winnable candidate.

I watched a Biden speech recently. He looks older and slowed down a bit. I don't think he has the energy for a campaign. I really want someone young and energetic.

Interesting how pretty much every thing that could be said about Beto could be said about Stacey Abrams- she came ridiculously close in a deeply red state AND she did it against the headwinds of outright corruption. I wouldn't be surprised if the eventual nominee is not mentioned in this thread at all. Remember, hardly anybody had ever heard of Barack Obama until he spoke at the 2004 Democratic Convention.
