MAJOR Snowstorm?

CWG is walking back down from their major snow storm prediction. Looks like unless you live along270 or western Fairfax/ Loudoun, it will be mainly rain. Just wait, I think we are in for another bust unless you live in the far Out suburbs.

Try to travel up Monday if you can; if not Wed - Amtrak will be fine on Wed. if that's in the budget. If it's a bus plan for the trip to take HOURS bc the turnpike etc. will be super slow. Getting there will be a hassle - once you're there, enjoy! The city gets so quiet during/after storms - it's refreshing (bc non essential delivery trucks don't come in; and I'm guessing at least half the morons now driving for Uber won't want to deal with the weather hassles so they'll be off the road too).

Eh, two feet is a lot for anyone. If history is any indication, the governor will probably declare a state of emergency for NYC sometime today. I doubt many non-essential personnel will be going to work tomorrow.

But I agree that the city will be back up and running a lot faster than it would be here.

??! no state of emergency for 2 ft of snow in NY. do you know how much snow syracuse gets every winter? and the I bankers will go to work and so will eveyone else as long as the subway is running.

Funny cause it has happened before for this type of event. Last month actually. If you live in Syracuse I guess you wouldn't necessarily know if there was a state of emergency for NYC.

I grew up in Rochester BTW. 2ft is a bit out of the ordinary even for there.

NP- slightly OT but Rochester was hit really hard by a freak windstorm last week. We have family and friends up there who still didn't have power as of yesterday and some roads are still closed due to downed power lines and trees. So the storm on the way may be more taxing than normal for parts of western NY.

Snow is important. The grounds are very dry. We need it. Farmers need the extra water in the ground.

+1. Already feels like this will be a bust.

Why not just wait til 1-2:00 when the composite from the model runs is clear. It's a difficult to track storm with a highly variable output based on single models. Chill out and wait an hour and then you'll know if you're in the snow or sleet zone.

Sun just vanished behind a veil of gray. Off in the distance, the smell of woodsmoke...

Why would you be disappointed??

Bc I like snow? And wanted our one storm of the yr to be a foot or more?

That's right, crazy woman. Root for disruption and danger for all!

An inch of snow, tops, in DC. Unscheduled telework for Feds, I guess (if that).

Doug at Channel 4 just had a Facebook live post about the rain snow line being pushed west. Meaning rain rather than snow for our area. Now the question is sleet or rain.
