Just give Nicole Kidman her Emmy now.

The therapy scenes are like a masters class in acting and could be an educational video for therapist training. So powerful.
Kidman is amazing.
(Hoping Celeste RUNS).

I love this show but I love the soundtrack even more! It's phenomenal.

There is something so revolting about him, the way he pouts when she tells him she's doing something (like taking the kids to Frozen on Ice, or when the first day of school didn't include going in to meet the teacher). He is one controlling SOB. Even when Celeste was asking her therapist for help in telling Perry that she wanted to go back to work, I couldn't believe she didn't hear her own words. She was saying that Perry limits her friends, doesn't like her to leave the house, is very possessive, etc. etc. Classic traits of an abuser, and yet - this very intelligent woman doesn't want to acknowledge it? Is it that she actually does enjoy on some level the abuse? It honestly gives me the creeps to see those two together.

The scene where she tells him she has to meet with the client again, and he grabs her hair right before one of the kids comes in, was chilling. She just pretended nothing at all happened. What is wrong with Celeste???

Totally agree. However, I do think she could have mentioned the first day of school would be a non-event when she found out he cancelled work plans for first day.

PP here, and this is true. I wonder if subconsciously, she's being passive aggressive in the hopes that Perry will react by hurting her? She seems to enjoy that a lot, even though she's ashamed to admit it.

This. I am getting so unnerved by their interactions. If they are alone, she snarks and he reacts violently. Then the make up sex. Over and over. It's annoying and stressful at the same time.

+1
I have a knot in my stomach whenever they have a scene together. Like when he was picking up the Legos. I knew that wasn't going to be the end of it, and sure enough... ugh. So humiliating and degrading. And yet, Celeste does seem to enjoy it.

Psychiatrist here. The therapist scenes are textbook perfect of an abusive relationship. Kidman is spot on.

I can't take Perry and Celeste anymore. After the flashbacks this weekend of him freaking out over the legos and crushing her face into the sofa I wanted to grab through the tv and yank her out. Her bruises are getting bigger IMO, he's getting worse. And the therapist is 100% on to him. I hope Celeste goes back to her and finally leaves him!!!!

It did seem like this was Celeste's breakthrough session. And the therapist is demanding more from Celeste. These sessions are well-written and well-acted.

Agree. I'm wondering if Perry kills Celeste when he finds out she's been seeing the therapist without him. I'm actually shocked that he admitted to the therapist that he is violent with Celeste. I thought for sure he'd deny it to the end.

Thank you for the professional insight. I couldn't believe she went to the airport to pick him up, it was as though she is more committed to him after discussing it with the therapist.

I took this as a reaction to her epiphany in the therapist's office. A flight back to the familiar (no pun intended)

I loved that scene at the airport. At first we see her rushing inside with the boys and see the Departures sign. Go, Celeste, go! Oh no, wait. She's going to Arrivals. I felt sick to my stomach when I realized she was picking up Perry. So well written and constructed.

Anonymous wrote:Loving it but two things:

1) Amabella is the dumbest name

2) If this is a public school there should be no parent transportation but buses. Yes, I know transplanted from Australia but still doesn't ring true.

These are dumber complaints than the show's opening scene with each mom driving their kids to school. Which I happen to think is really cool because the scenery is awesome.

+1
I actually like the opening scene. That scenery is just to die for, and I think it's cool how each mom is driving her child(ren), but clearly miles away in her own thoughts.

We don't know, but my guess is she realized he was not the same guy who raped her and she ran out right after realizing this. I really think Perry is the guy. Has she ever met Perry? I don't recall a scene with both of them.

That article is bs. There was never going to be a second season and it is doing well inthe us.

It makes me sadder than a presumably intelligent adult would believe anything like this gossip and click bait. HBO and Reese's and Nicole's production companies promoted the heck out of BLL and all the lead actresses showed up at every single event (because there are pictures). There was also ton of print articles, photo shoots and interviews. Simultaneously, Nicole Kidman and others were promoting the heck out of Lion, which was a smallish budget production, nominated for many awards worldwide (many for Kidman) and there were lots of pictures.

And, Reese and Nicole both call themselves Tennessee girls, neighbors and great friends.

I'm embarrassed that I know all this to be true.

nydailynews and Daily Mail are really and truly FAKE NEWS! Thought everyone knew that.

I want to download the soundrack, fly to California, rent a Range Rover and see the Monterey ocean, drive those same roads, stop at that coffee shop and a homes tour would be nice.

Anonymous wrote:I just read an interview (on Vulture) where LD says she mispronounces Madeline to irritate Reese. LD is fantastic. I love watching her act, as much as her character irritates me. I think we've all been that woman.

Can we talk about Jane putting the gun under her pillow while sleeping next to Ziggy? WTF. And in the same episode, didn't Madeline compliment Jane on her parenting? This has got to be significant as the therapist/teacher/principal keep asking her about Ziggy's background/home life--whether there is anything significant/

I think Jane had the gun under her pillow when she went to sleep, and Ziggy crawled into her bed later. That's why she was so startled when she woke up and saw him there. Pretty sure she then put the gun in the drawer.

If I were Jane, I would be FURIOUS that my child had been accused of hurting another child - with zero evidence. It amazes me that the Kleins can just demand a teacher's aide sit in the classroom with the express purpose of watching Ziggy. I'm still appalled that Jane hasn't jumped down their throats, or the teacher's, or the principal's. Unreal.

I suspect Amabella is harming herself. She looks like a psychopath. I picture her using one of those stapler removers on her shoulder to make it look like a bite mark. Who knows, just a hunch.
