No it's not about discrimination. These people need a way to protect themselves, look at how the pizza owners' lives and livelihoods are threatened. They are fine with serving gay customers in the restaurant, but when they express reluctance to cater for a gay wedding they have to go into hiding.

Insanity reigns. People here seem to be fine with death threats and other threats levied at these pizza parlor owners, all the while screaming about unfairness. Kind of hilarious in a sick way. They don't even see it.

WHO IS FINE WITH THAT???

Those that are doing it. Read these threads - y'all don't see it.

This bakery in Florida is receiving threats after refusing to make a cake that said "We do not support gay marriage":

Will you write post after post about how terrible the anti-gay marriage crowd it? Will you call all of those who oppose gay marriage supporters of these threats?

What if someone said "sure, you can ride in my bus, but you have to sit in the back because you conflict with my religious beliefs". Is that ok? NO!

I have to sprinkle those supposed "death threats" to the pizza parlor with a huge dose of salt. The "death threat" claims only came via a right wing talk radio host who has a longstanding history of anti-gay hatemongering, homophobia and a long history of making things up. Not real high up on the credibility scale.

Hey, it's different when Christians do it.

DEATH THREATS 4 JESUS!

That would be ok.

But the same Christian can go to a business owned by the same exact gay couple, and they must provide s/he with service? The gay couple cannot deny the Christian service, citing his/her offensive religious beliefs?

What the hell?

Look it up on YouTube - a guy calls up gay bakeries and asks for a cake. He says there's an event supporting traditional marriage between a man and a woman and he needs a cake for it. Watch the profanity and backlash.

If I were the gay bakery owner I would make the gayest traditional marriage cake ever. Rainbow filling between layers, penis sprinkles, the works.

Read the threads. I didn't see anyone saying or implying that they are fine with death threats. Links, please.

However, if someone cites the Bible as a basis for believing that a same-sex marriage is against their religious beliefs and therefore refuses to "participate" in it by baking a cake or whatever, but has no problem baking a cake for interfaith weddings or weddings where one spouse was previously married, etc., then I find it difficult to believe that their motivation is truly their religious beliefs.

Religious, schmeligious. Cite for me where EXACTLY it says in the Bible that a Christian should not do business with someone with different views.

If you can't give me an exact citation then you have no religious grounds to stand on.

This is not like racial segregation and you can not equate rejection of homosexuality to rejection of dark complected people. Homosexuality is a major sin in most of the world's greatest religions. It is deemed as unnatural because only a man and woman can reproduce. These religions predate current views on homosexuality. They are based on the word of God to their adherents. Just as premarital sex is prohibited so is homosexuality. If a man had increased levels of testosterone which left him unable to restrain his lust for women and he engaged freely in premarital sex, he is as guilty of sinning as the homosexual who engages in anal sex with another man. Religion expects the individual to restrain yourself.

A true Christian business will only engage in business that is in the furtherance of their religious views. Serving pizza universally doesnt indicate the business is a religious establiahment. The supreme court would say the pizzeria can not do this.

Does the Bible prohibit marriage between two men? Or say that marriage is between a man and woman? If so, then it follows that baking cakes or delivering pizza for marriages forbidden in the faith would be wrong.

Delivering pizzas on a Sunday is forbidden. Ask them if they do that.

Or one could just go on and keep extrapolating and try to suggest that the mere mention of two men is against Christianity. Where does it end?

How about it ends with what JESUS ACTUALLY SAYS as opposed to extrapolating it out to the nth degree. And what Jesus *actually* said in the Bible about homosexuality was " "

He said NOTHING.
