I'm fine with this, just as I am fine with Christian bakers refusing to make a cake for a gay wedding.

The question is, are you?

Do you know what a pro-gay marriage cake is? A cake.

Do you know what a "pro-traditional marriage cake" is? A dare.

Law applies to both regardless.

A cake is a cake. An inscription is speech.

Agreed. What if someone wanted a cake with hate speech on it? Kill (fill in the blank group), or KKK, swastikas, what have you. Things you will be charged with a hate crime if you spray pain them on the side of a building.

I think a baker has to bake the cake but can tell the customer to write their own inscription.

Is 'Christians against Gay Marriage' hate speech? How about 'Gay marriage is not Recognized by God'.?
If both customers want to buy an already prepared cake out of the case and write their own message, I agree. A special order is something else. It's participating

I believe writing KKK on a cake is not illegal.

Hate speech is not really a legal term. The question is whether it is compelled speech. See Wooley v. Maynard.

I don't have a problem with a sign maker or cake baker from refusing to produce speech they don't agree with. But a cake is not speech, it is a dessert.
