Yes, that's what I'm wondering as well. I've flown in/out of DCA 100+ times in the past 20 years. I'm obviously aware that we have a great deal of helicopter traffic in our region, but the idea that a training flight could cross paths with a landing flight path is haunting. |
Yes, thanks. It's just that I hadn't thought of instruments possibly not working correctly. |
We don't have a new Sec of Transportation yet, do we? Nobody is going to want that job after this. |
Well, see for yourself. He can't answer questions about the FAA job he is being considered for. Why is that? Biden's Nominee To Lead FAA Can't Answer A Single Question About Aviation & Air Travel Ted Budd Asks |
Perhaps you think it’s acceptable for a military helicopter to fly into a commercial plane and kill everyone. I expect more from the president and department of defense that I support with my tax dollars. If you’re in charge, you don’t get to just shrug your shoulders and say, human error, oh well. You need to put your big boy pants on tell the country what you’re doing to ensure it doesn’t happen again. |
Sam Lilley graduated in 2018 with a degree in marketing but decided to become a pilot. He had earlier graduated from Richmond Hill High School, just south of Savannah, Georgia, where he had been an active member of Coastal Community Christian Church.
His father: “This is undoubtedly the worst day of my life,” said Timothy Lilley, who also is a longtime pilot and served as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot for 20 years, noting he flew similar routes in and out of the Pentagon. Ryan O’Hara was one of three soldiers aboard the Black Hawk helicopter. “Ryan was just the most committed, disciplined person I remember working with,” said Josh Muehlendorf, a senior instructor pilot in the U.S. Army. “He had such great integrity.” Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves said on the social platform X that the state was mourning the death of Andrew Eaves, who was also aboard the Army helicopter. Eaves was from the small town of Brooksville in eastern Mississippi, Reeves said. Reaves was apparently the pilot: As per reports, Eaves was the Chief Warrant Office 2 of Mississippi. He grew up in the Brooksville and graduated from Central Academy. He said to be with Bravo Company, 12th Aviation Battalion out of Davison Army Airfield, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. "Andrew was a kind, loving, fun-loving and patriotic man," Eaves' family said in a statement. "He loved his wife and kids fiercely and would have done anything to take care of them. He was a great son and loved his mom and brother dearly. He was an absolute joy to be around and would light up every room he entered, and was always the life of the party. He was a true all-American hero, and will be deeply missed by anyone lucky enough to have known him." From AP, Economic Times, and WAPT, an ABC affiliate in Jackson. |
According to the MCJROTC program at Parkview High School in Lilburn, Ryan O'Hara, Class of 2014, was the crew chief of the Black Hawk involved in the collision near Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. O'Hara was on the MCJROTC rifle team and was fondly remembered as a guy who would fix things around the ROTC gym.

You would act like a leader. Properly investigate, gather information, and put together protocols / plans to avoid it happening in the future, whatever the cause. You know, do your job, right? |
DEI is there BECAUSE of white power and racism. You have it backwards and have drunk the kool-aid. |
Right. That's what why we have things like checklists and protocols, to reduce the chance of human error and bad outcomes. |
And yet, the majority of Americans support DEI. https://www.axios.com/2025/01/17/diversity-initiatives-workers-trump https://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/national/article299053395.html What is toxic is white christian nationalists cramming their christian nationalism on to the rest of us. |
We do. He’s a MAGA reality tv nitwit, just like Trump. |
Sean Duffy is not a nitwit. He's probably one of the most level-headed people in the new administration. His wife, however, I may feel differently. |
Journalists and others need to stop using the phrase DEI policy when reporting on this or taking to Trump. Call him out.
Don’t say DEI policy. Say “do you blame this accident on policies to allow incompetent blacks, Hispanics or women in the military? Do you blame the FAA for hiring an unqualified black man or an unqualified woman or Hispanic person?” Make sure MAGA blacks Hispanics and women hear his word over and over again. He is hiding behind the DEI phrase. |
