Gov. Youngkin issues statement after DOJ files lawsuit over noncitizen voting in Va.

Contrary to NPR’s hysterical lies, not a single person has been disenfranchised in VA.

Not even one.

Commonwealth of Virginia residents eligible to vote can still register during early voting or on Election Day, and cast provisional ballots.

If this was such an issue why act on this so late? Why not regularly audit well in advance to allow challenges and litigation to resolve well in advance of the election. I don’t want non-citizens voting and see no issue with keeping everything up to date but the timing tells you this is just more red meat for GOP crazies.

This is in violation of the NVRA. Maybe the Supreme Court issued their stay using your logic but we don't know because they didn't say. All we know is that this is in violation of the law and the Supreme Court is currently supporting it.

“We will see what the court decides but I disagree given the specificities that Va was on keying in on - self identification and lack of follow up.”

Do you live under a rock? Why comment if you are not up to date on the topic?

Everyone should navigate the links at vote.us. If you’ve been dropped, go to vote in person with proof of citizenship. Request a provisional ballot.

A week doesn’t go by that I don’t read a story about post office malfunction in Central Virginia. I can see why people don’t get important letters. We are seeing the result of Trump appointing DeLay. We had four years to replace him and we are reaping the result of inaction.

Stop pretending non citizens never vote, nonsense. Here is a case posted just an hour ago. Not only did this Chinese man vote, his vote counts! No way to retrieve it back.

Care to explain why you think I live under a rock?

The program was already in effect prior to the 90 mark. It was the frequency that changed.

Or SCOTUS doesn’t believe this is a violation of the law, either because noncitizens never were covered by the law or because they agree with Youngkin that it’s not a systematic purge and again, therefore the law doesn’t apply.

Cannot believe if all the things going on that this is something people want to fight about. If you are not a US citizen you should not be voting. If there was a mistake on you checking wrong box then this is easily fixed.

Describe how this would be fixed and how easy that would be. Would an email do it?

They were asked in the letter to provide proof of citizenship to the registrar’s office within 14 days. They didn’t.

Some letters were sent to the wrong addresses. Some letters arrived at homes AFTER the 14 day deadline to respond.

It's all in the NPR article.

Again, it’s a voter’s responsibility to update their mailing address when they move. And that’s still no justification for the original judge to put noncitizens back on the rosters.

I think a U.S. citizens fundamental right to vote should not be taken away because you moved addresses.

You seem much more focused on the noncitizen element than the fact that U.S. citizens had their rights taken away by Youngkin. Care to explain?

So far all those tossed off have been Democrats; the maga pps have no problem with that. As Trump has projected, they’re cheating 12 different ways wherever they can.

Do you understand what in person registration up until Election Day means?

This is how it will work with Trump's rounding up 20 million people and putting them in concentration camps. There will be no due process or appeal. Just some Republican bureaucrat issuing arrest quotas.

Bet your Republican neighbor down the street is eyeing your house and car. They will turn you and move in to your house.

Do you trust Republicans or the "conservatives" who
post here with that power?

Get a grip. Every noncitizen vote cancels out the vote of a citizen. Removing illegal voting registrations is common sense. You sound completely unhinged all because the court acknowledges that the judge acted inappropriately to force those names back onto the voting roster to increase the opportunity to fraud.

And as shown with the link above out of Michigan, once an illegal vote is cast, it counts!

The court has decided. Apparently you didn’t get the memo.

Oh honey. You don’t understand the concept of a hold? Here is a link for you. Maybe next time you don’t understand something, you just keep quiet.

https://www.scotusblog.com/2024/10/supreme-court-allows-virginia-to-remove-suspected-non-citizens-from-voter-rolls/

“In a brief unsigned order on Wednesday morning, the justices granted Virginia’s request to put Giles’ order on hold while a challenge to it continues.”

If accurate that’s good to hear. The NBC affiliate interviewed a VA woman who says she’s a citizen and was purged in this process.

However, the law is the law and it appears the SC has gone rouge.

If this is such a concern, why wait until it's within the period the LAW says not to do it. Why not start a program YEARS ago?

Because this is a BS stunt to fix a problem that isn't really a problem. Non citizen voting has been illegal for a long time and multiple checks have found it's not an issue. One guy in Michigan and you guys are saying the sky is falling so that you can justify your illegal purge of actual citizen votes.

Lies and Cheating and projection to try and cover it up: The GOP way. You can't win fairly so you cheat and blame the other side.
