Yes. The entire thing is a play. They are holding ID sessions before 3/1 since ECNL technically cannot make offers before that date. If they lock in girls early, they think that will help avoid losing talent to the ECNL team. You’d be foolish to take a GA spot as a good player without even seeing what the ECNL prospects look like, but as shown on this board, SYC is really putting the pressure on.

SYC is after older ECNL girls. Even bench warming ECNL girls would be foolish to take a GA offer before March.

This. If a GA player is someone an ECNL team is interested in, there is nothing that stops them from communicating with those players or offering them a position, ever. Just this year, I've seen GA players shift mid season to ECNL. If you're wanted to fill a need, you'll get a spot or be reached out to.

Yeah, totally different point. ECNL can’t give offers / tryouts for other ECNL teams until 3/1 - which is why if you want to be on an ECNL team, you can’t really shop until then, and which is why it’s better for a GA team to try and lock in the talent before they can shop.
