Geez. We are screwed.

Sorry, ladies. You’re going to have another four years of Shebra Evans.

Yes. THAT Bethany Mandel. https://www.bethany4boe.com/

For the uninitiated, Bethany is a homeschool mom with no direct experience with MCPS. She speaks at Moms for Liberty events and tries to promote the idea that public school is liberal indoctrination.

She also has two blatant conflicts of interest. She is currently suing MCPS over what she claims is a violation of open meetings rules. Her legal team works for Stephen Miller’s organization. https://montgomeryperspective.com/2023/11/14/national-right-wing-group-sues-mcps/

She is also the editor for a series of children’s books and she has publicly complained that MCPS doesn’t put the books in media centers. https://nypost.com/2022/11/19/maryland-school-district-with-lgbtq-book-list-rejected-books-promoting-american-values/

BEWARE - Mandel is a Moms of Liberty candidate. Moms of Liberty is an anti LGBTQ, racist organization out to dismantle public schools. Moms of Liberty is also a coordinated effort that gets a lot of far-right funding. Very dangerous.

She has no chance of winning. It’s not worth spinning your wheels about. Far more moderate candidates than Mandel have lost big because they were labeled too extreme. Mandel is on the fringe of the fringe.

Sadly, it's not about her winning the general election. It's about setting Evans up.

Pull for Stewart if you want anything at all different. Mandel can't win the general and would leave Evans as the shoo-in if Mandel happens to edge out Stewart in the primary.

I would prefer Evans and find it interesting that people are so eager to vote out the only African American incumbent on the ballot.

Stewart is not a change candidate. She’s an insider, albeit a white one. Her own supporters have said “she knows where the bodies are buried,” but she did nothing to expose anything, so she’s no different than anyone on the board.

Mandel is not worth mentioning.

Evans is out unless she files.

Evans is out even if she files. She has done nothing during her time on the board but rubber-stamp admin.

which can be good sometimes so I wouldn't call it nothing just maybe stuff you personally don't like

No, in this case nothing means nothing. Name one thing that Shebra has done besides reflexively support admin?

Just confirming: in the primary, we each vote for one candidate in each race. The top 2 go through to the general right?

Yep. She supported or even lobbied for most of what MCPS has become.

Well, she's not on the current Board and has my vote. (No way am I voting for Mandell, and I'm voting against BOE incumbents across the board.)
