Yes, but also D4 is the most heavily gerrymandered district. It has the least compact boundary of any.

It is extraordinary the number of people running for school board. I think that incumbency is what will sink the current board members who will pay the price for what the Beidleman scandal revealed about a years-long broken system of employees not being safe. There are more principals, APs, RTs, and CSs that need to go.

Fixing that culture is going to be tough.

It's great to have people that want to improve the schools running. The state of schools today is the reason so many people choose to homeschool or send their kids to private schools. It's not hypocrisy but understanding the problems from inside.

BEWARE - Mandel is a Moms of Liberty candidate. Moms of Liberty is an anti LGBTQ, racist organization out to dismantle public schools. Moms of Liberty is also a coordinated effort that gets a lot of far-right funding. Very dangerous.

She has no chance of winning. It’s not worth spinning your wheels about. Far more moderate candidates than Mandel have lost big because they were labeled too extreme. Mandel is on the fringe of the fringe.

Sadly, it's not about her winning the general election. It's about setting Evans up.

Pull for Stewart if you want anything at all different. Mandel can't win the general and would leave Evans as the shoo-in if Mandel happens to edge out Stewart in the primary.

I would prefer Evans and find it interesting that people are so eager to vote out the only African American incumbent on the ballot.

Stewart is not a change candidate. She’s an insider, albeit a white one. Her own supporters have said “she knows where the bodies are buried,” but she did nothing to expose anything, so she’s no different than anyone on the board.

Mandel is not worth mentioning.

Shebra Evans is an incumbent. There's been plenty of opportunity to see what she's done over multiple terms, namely little or nothing. If you disagree with that assessment, please say what she's done.

Laura Stewart is not an incumbent.

Bethany Mandel is a Hate Slate/Moms4Liberty candidate.

Stewart has worked tirelessly to secure funding for MCPS schools, particularly for renovations, rebuilds, and new buildings. It is absolute drudgery and “grunt” work. If you think someone who has volunteered for years to learn the ins and outs of school funding, and to lobby for adequate funding, is an “insider” so be it. But as I look at the list of individuals challenging the incumbents I see nobody else who knows the system as well as Stewart. Given the state of affairs, I’d like to have somebody on the board who isn’t a complete novice.

Don’t be so sure. A few years ago DC voters elected Ashley Carter, probably just because she was a pretty white woman with a white name. She was very careful not to reveal her full background.
