Are you serious ?

Minor rise in minor crime, but nothing like your post suggests. I know that the AU area CVS has issues and some car break-ins, but still very safe 24 hours a day.

Have you lived here for 4 years ? If so, could you please share some examples that reflect your post ?

Thank you in advance.

This was clearly Matt Frumin’s initial attitude. As an AU Park resident on the District’s western edge he probably felt everything was pretty much under control in Ward 3. But his eyes and ears have been opened in recent months.

Until homeless start living in Turtle Park he will continue to ignore the crime and voucher issue.

Why shouldn’t there be tent encampments in Turtle Park? Ward 3 should be more welcoming and inclusive for all!

Good idea. I might drive some of my new voucher resident neighbors over to Turtle Park for the day to see how the other half lives in AU Park. No reason Forest Hills Park should get all the fun. They might even want to stay.

Armed carjacking just now in Palisades and armed robbery of Amazon Fresh in Chevy Chase by a retail theft ring this afternoon. The Mexican government sure was correct that a lot of formerly considered safe areas in DC (and close in MoCo) are experiencing violence. Plus the shooting this afternoon in Logan of the Park Police officer and dealer, broad daylight, and the Lululemon armed robbery at The Wharf early this afternoon. And this vid from yesterday is like something from Brazil, so hard to watch. Not sure what to tell my kids and visitors, the violent crime is in the daytime as well as after dark.

Things were worse 20 years ago. Also, we will soon have bike lanes to enjoy.

Yup. “We’re doing bike lanes. F— everything else.”

I lived in Tenley. I remember when the Target opened.

Unlike then, everything is behind glass there now.

Yes, OP, Tenley has gotten much, much seedier.

Thank your city council and mayor.

I gave one earlier in this long thread as have many. But you've chosen to ignore.

No, I didn't ignore your post; I just haven't read the whole thread & have not experienced any significant rise in crime beyond broken car windows.

last year a gun fight between two groups apparently took place right in front of the entrance of JR HS (as holes to parked cars showed) less than 30 min before dismissal (when almost 2000 kids leave the school, along the nearby 1500 at Deal, more at Jenney and so on). both my kids (at JR and Deal) ended up in lockdown, the one at JR texting that they were on the floor in class and so on. this was a 3.45pm right in Tenley.

Mass of kids in Whole Foods parking today smoking pot. Our parked car reeked when we retrieved it. Spoke to manager. They need to shut that down. Are they going to class stoned out of their gourds?

I like how things have deteriorated to the point where we're just supposed to act like numerous cars getting their windows smashed around Tenleytown is a given.

If you rode a bike instead this wouldn’t happen.

These out of boundary students at ex-Wilson create a real problem in the Tenkeytown community. Can’t they be sent back to their assigned school if they continue to shoplift, use or sell drugs, and commit mayhem?

Matt wants to make Ward 3 MORE welcoming. Buckle up.

Oh, what, kids from Ward 3 don’t smoke pot?

They do, and do other stuff. But they can't be expelled as easily from Jackson-Reed.

Fancy e-bikes will be the next to be “jacked.”
