David Trone for senate

Alsobrooks had more votes than the GOP combined. The excitement for her is really understated in the media.

She had the weight of Raskin and the party behind her.

Interestingly, she doesn’t speak in her own commercial with Raskin. She’s not that impressive.

I recognized a beloved mcps teacher/admin in Trone’s commercial—a black woman. Interesting that a black female educator didn’t support Alsobrooks.

I bet Hogan will win. Long history of black candidates from PG County who simply can’t carry the state. Plus: he has name recognition.

I'm starting to think that "she's not that impressive" is code for "she's a black woman from Prince George's County".

Hogan never had to run in a presidential election year. Plus, senators and governors are very different. People will be thinking about the Supreme Court. These two factors should get Alsobrooks to 51%.

She was my son‘s teacher. We had a very positive experience with her. She was strict and ran that classroom like a tight ship. Her vote didn’t sway me, but I was always happy to see her on screen. I ended up voting for Trone.

In the race for governor, which happens in non-presidential years, Hogan beat a bad candidate, twice.

Now he's running for senator, in a presidential year, against a good candidate.

I nearly voted for Hogan when he ran for his 2nd term, even though I always vote for democrats. I was happy with him as our governor for 8 years. I wouldn't DREAM of voting for him in this senate race, the stakes are completely different and I am sure hoping any dems who voted for him as governor realize that.

Unfortunately, Black women from PG county aren't making an impression on the state.

Hogan won two elections for Governor. The main problem he faces is fear of what a Republican majority would do, not himself specifically. That's a point in Alsobrooks's favor, but not something impressive about her.

I didn't see anything about Alsobrooks except for one yard sign 2 weeks ago. I also remember a commercial recently, but I don't remember who the candidate they were. That's not impressive either, for whoever it was.

Finally, it seems petty, but "Alsobrooks" is an cool but awkward name. As a fellow awkward name holder, I know that harms popularity.

+1 Seriously. PP's bolded statement belies her racism. "Why don't black people stick together like me and my kind?"

Feeling that life is unfair, even if you're right, doesn't win elections.

When you look at the same comments regarding Kamala Harris, you can remove the PG County disclaimer.

You're making this comment about a someone who just won the primary by 54% to 42% against a candidate who spent $63 million of his own money.

She just last night blew out Trone in the primary. 243,637 voters voted for her. The vote total for governor in the Republican primary, for all candidates combined, was 238,469. So it seems like maybe black women from PG County actually are making an impression on the state.

Trone really packs political savvy. I remember when he was running against Raskin and almost literally blanketed us with his flyers. I think I had at least 20 of them delivered to my apartment. It actively made people want to vote against him.

Maybe think about why she’s literally standing next to Raskin in her own commercial and they dubbed over whatever she was obviously saying since her lips were moving and she was clearly speaking?

I mean, that’s my point: her own party doesn’t think she’s equipped to speak in her own commercial. That’s what leads me to believe she’s not that impressive (among other things…like her own record in PG County).

The party tapped her because she needed them and likely sold her soul to bankroll her campaign. Trone didn’t need the party’s money and made clear he couldn’t be controlled.

As a Dem, I hope she beats Hogan. But don’t forget that Hogan easily won a second term, defeating a black Dem from PG County with experience in Annapolis.

If Hogan gets teachers or unions, he’s set.

Alsobrooks doesn’t have the best reputation with state and county employees.
