Weed absolutely precipitates psychotic illness in kids this age (see here for example: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33617756/). And growing up playing a lot of shooter games (it said several places that he was into them and at one point his goal was to develop his own) inured him to real life repercussions of shooting someone.

I don’t necessarily agree with you about weed but he was in a fraternity (Phi Kappa Psi) and was definitely playing shooter games.

We’re talking about a that sell health insurance and then reneges on the contracts. That’s not a “healthcare company.”

Thompson and his wife separated after his DUI arrest in 2017:

“ Minnesota court filings show that in 2017 Brian Thompson was arrested and convicted on charges of fourth-degree driving while impaired, for which he received probation.”

I hope those are separate. That you feel bad for his kids because they lost their dad so senselessly.

The fact that the suspect may be attractive should be irrelevant to your sympathy.

I don’t care about him being hot. I can’t imagine a parent getting murdered and thousands of people being happy about it.

I agree. Ironically, the CEOs kids went to a public high school and the older one is at a public flagship. They probably grew up in a more low key way than a Gilman grad whose family owns multiple country clubs and nursing homes.

Geez. The asst principal in my son's h.s. played shooter video games and was a great guy (who stepped up when my kid, who had an IEP, was struggling with school).

I'd say chronic severe back pain from his injury. That can mess a person up good. There have been several incidents in which people who have undergone back surgery and ended up just as bad off or worse have shot doctors or clinic staff. My son's ADR was implanted by a guy who stopped doing the surgeries for a year because a former patient was, in fact, threatening to shoot him.

UHC is also a healthcare company through its subsidiary Optum, operating urgent care centers, primary care, ambulatory surgery centers, plus pharmacy services and pharmacy benefit manager "services" (the quotes are intentional).

Or better yet — no mask but a red MAGA hat to hide his most distinct facial features

That’s what I was thinking. He stood out with the mask. Few people wear them these days.

I see more than one person wearing a mask every time I go out. Not outside on the street usually, but on customers and employees at Costco, and other stores.

Depends on what area, go somewhere rural and conservative and you won’t see it

Oh yeah you do. I live in one of those areas.

If it is in NYC with Alvin Bragg as DA it will mean far fewer years in prison. His Day One memo states:

Day One Polices & Procedures January 3, 2022
When seeking a carceral sentence, the following rules apply, absent exceptional circumstances:

a. For a determinate sentence, the Office will request a maximum of 20 years.

b. For an indeterminate sentence other than one with a maximum of life, the Office will request no more than a maximum of 20 years, absent exceptional circumstances.

c. For an indeterminate sentence with a maximum of life, the Office will request no more than a minimum of 20 years, unless required by law.

d. The Office shall not seek a sentence of life without parole.

e. In exceptionally serious cases such as homicides where lengthy periods of incarceration are justified, ADAs shall consider the use of restorative justice as a mitigating factor in determining the length of the sentence, only when victims or their loved ones consent.

Why would it be federal? He didn't kidnap the guy or take him across state lines.

It doesn’t make sense.

You don't sound like you are in the healthcare business to be throwing out random figures of who makes what.

DP but I haven’t heard of many doctors making $10M + per year.

How do you feel about the lives Thompson and UHC ruined?

Many of those people were so sick they were likely dying anyway.

Death panels ok?

He's not leftist AT ALL.

He’s obviously a horseshoe theory leftists. These people are all over social media.

Can you explain what a "horseshoe theory" leftist is? He's so far right he's left? I don't understand.

It is the other way around. He is an extreme anti-capitalist leftist that went so far left that he became a reactionary ideologue. I think he settled as an accelerationist.

Those are really scary ideologies.

These are the people that are so left they are actually right.

I think I have the highest score on that game at least that I’ve seen anyway. 😅
