Did I say Harry was infallible? Perfect, even in his twenties when he himself admits to having substance abuse and mental health problems? And what outfit was William wearing at that same party, do you know? Some sources say William was dressed as a lion and some sources say William was dressed as an “African tribal person.” |
I guess we didn’t have to see Kate’s junk since she finally added hem weights after the Queen begging her to do so for years. |
Go find the follow up posts acknowledging the obvious fact that history informs the future while pointing out the reality of Jamaica’s complicated history with the UK. The Brits ended slave trading in Jamaica long before others. They effectively abolished slavery before the US. England left Jamaica and was essentially drawn back to invest in nation building, effectively bringing the rule of law while building the necessary infrastructure for a diverse economy. This was post-slavery. Without that investment, … And, let’s not forget where Marcus Garvey went. Hint: it wasn’t Africa. He happily relocated to the UK. Nobody is defending slavery. Did you miss Will’s speech? Rather, some of us feel the Jamaican woman who shunned Kate looked bad. You don’t do that. It makes you look bad. Plus, blaming anybody in 2022 for slavery is just pointless. |
I think that H & M’s very successful tour— the one that included New Zealand, probably shook a lot of things loose, including, perhaps, long-standing dynamics between W and H. Perhaps the Rota felt pressed to make their loyalties clear. |
True. And it stands out that the back-story and William’s involvement didn’t get the same attention. Harry has had multiple missteps, but he’s faced them and grown forward from them. (Well, at least the ones that have been widely publicized.) |
+1 William, as the heir, has been protected and coddled to his detriment, and Harry has taken all the lumps meant for both boys to his detriment. The conspiracy theories/rumors about William are absolutely wild. |
This explains today why they are in the position they are. Much like some of Americas poorly high crime cities, along with poor leadership: https://www.encyclopedia.com/history/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/urban-poverty-caribbean |
Exactly. |
There were some very positive moments. And good on William that he was able to recalibrate a bit. From my perspective though, the “disaster” in this is that William had a great chance to showcase his assertions that “we are not a racist family”. Many of the optics don’t match that assertion. And that’s something that should have been both anticipated and very preventable. |
DP: Ah, yet another apologist. If “blaming anybody in 2022 for slavery is just pointless “ then what was your little history lesson about the Brits intended to suggest? You’re trying to have it both ways and, yes, some of us notice. |
I think he thought everyone forgot about that. Maybe in the UK. *shrug* |

Did you know that only 3% of the UK is black?
As such, it’s not unusual that Will’s staff is white. That doesn’t mean he’s racist. While London is the most diverse part of the UK, it’s barely 8% black. |

Well, it's a bummer to be the one to come face to face with the changing times. But this didn't have anything to do with William and Kate. There's nothing they could have done, nothing that Harry and Meghan could have done.
Jamaica has changed. It's a generational change, and it's what the younger Jamaicans have decided. |
