Harry always was a diplomat. He just had natural charisma, something both William and Kate are sorely lacking.

Harry had his missteps, like wearing the Nazi uniform for Halloween.

Did I say Harry was infallible? Perfect, even in his twenties when he himself admits to having substance abuse and mental health problems?

And what outfit was William wearing at that same party, do you know? Some sources say William was dressed as a lion and some sources say William was dressed as an “African tribal person.”

This article says the tour was a success despite the few PR missteps which the media is fixating on…unsurprisingly since it’s the negative stuff that sells papers/draws clicks.

But don’t brush past the reality that this was an overall success. They performed well.

Newsweek had a positive review too.

I guess we didn’t have to see Kate’s junk since she finally added hem weights after the Queen begging her to do so for years.

Will and Kate are lovely, dignified people who performed well while some of their hosts acted rather rudely. The hosts look bad, not the guests.

The one woman seated next to Kate who famously snubbed her looked like a petulant child. She clearly has no grace. No class.

The reality is that the UK and their royals still matter, while these little Caribbean islands are largely still considered third world outposts that outsiders use for beach vacations (largely holed up at luxury resorts where it’s safe). Most locals live in poverty. No wonder they have a chip on their shoulder. But at some point, they need to realize they’ve had independence and can only blame themselves for their current standard of living.

As a fellow American, I am ashamed of you. You think enslaving and colonizing a people, and stripping them of their best resources, is not going to have a lingering effect? They’ll just bounce back as soon as they have independence?

Holy toledo; I was unaware that people were that ignorant anymore.

Go find the follow up posts acknowledging the obvious fact that history informs the future while pointing out the reality of Jamaica’s complicated history with the UK.

The Brits ended slave trading in Jamaica long before others. They effectively abolished slavery before the US. England left Jamaica and was essentially drawn back to invest in nation building, effectively bringing the rule of law while building the necessary infrastructure for a diverse economy. This was post-slavery. Without that investment, …

And, let’s not forget where Marcus Garvey went. Hint: it wasn’t Africa. He happily relocated to the UK.

Nobody is defending slavery. Did you miss Will’s speech?

Rather, some of us feel the Jamaican woman who shunned Kate looked bad. You don’t do that. It makes you look bad. Plus, blaming anybody in 2022 for slavery is just pointless.

I think that H & M’s very successful tour— the one that included New Zealand, probably shook a lot of things loose,
including, perhaps, long-standing dynamics between W and H. Perhaps the Rota felt pressed to make their loyalties clear.

True. And it stands out that the back-story and William’s involvement didn’t get the same attention. Harry has had multiple missteps, but he’s faced them and grown forward from them. (Well, at least the ones that have been widely publicized.)

William, as the heir, has been protected and coddled to his detriment, and Harry has taken all the lumps meant for both boys to his detriment.

The conspiracy theories/rumors about William are absolutely wild.

This explains today why they are in the position they are. Much like some of Americas poorly high crime cities, along with poor leadership:

The slave trade in Jamaica was outlawed in the early 1800s and slavery was completely abolished in the 1830s in Jamaica. The Brits ended it before the US did btw.

Jamaica’s history obviously impacted its future, but it’s history was very complicated. The Brits dipped out once the sugar industry spread and Jamaica didn’t serve a financial purpose. They were actually wooed back and played a leadership role in modernizing the island with the rule of law, improving the infrastructure, and building a new economy.

The BRF are not white overlords. It’s ridiculous to treat them as such.

PS - Marcus Garvey moved to the UK, not Africa. Wonder why?

Exactly.

You should work for the Royal Family PR team. Those stupid idiots are posting about ROSA PARKS for the Queen's Jubilee. I mean I know they want our American money but William just insulted the entire Commonwealth with his 'leave if you want IDC' petulant statement. They need to be highlighting Commonwealth minorities of high esteem. They still don't get it. Or rather their all-white staff composed of sixth cousins of nobles don't. Maybe that Diversity Czar should have actually been hired, eh?

This article says the tour was a success despite the few PR missteps which the media is fixating on…unsurprisingly since it’s the negative stuff that sells papers/draws clicks.

But don’t brush past the reality that this was an overall success. They performed well.

Newsweek had a positive review too.

There were some very positive moments. And good on William that he was able to recalibrate a bit. From my perspective though, the “disaster” in this is that William had a great chance to showcase his assertions that “we are not a racist family”. Many of the optics don’t match that assertion. And that’s something that should have been both anticipated and very preventable.

Everyone agrees they were horrible - even William. Look at his face. I haven't seen someone look so downtrodden coming back from a tour since Trump's rally fiasco.

Dude looks like he's in tears.

DP: Ah, yet another apologist. If “blaming anybody in 2022 for slavery is just pointless “ then what was your little history lesson about the Brits intended to suggest? You’re trying to have it both ways and, yes, some of us notice.

I think he thought everyone forgot about that. Maybe in the UK. *shrug*

Did you know that only 3% of the UK is black?

As such, it’s not unusual that Will’s staff is white. That doesn’t mean he’s racist.

While London is the most diverse part of the UK, it’s barely 8% black.

Well, it's a bummer to be the one to come face to face with the changing times. But this didn't have anything to do with William and Kate. There's nothing they could have done, nothing that Harry and Meghan could have done.

Jamaica has changed. It's a generational change, and it's what the younger Jamaicans have decided.
