There have been ECNL girls 04 and up offered DA and declined, as well as DA girls who could have stayed DA and left for the ECNL.

I cannot agree on the 04 age group at all. ECNL is VDA, MCLEAN, BRYC and Loudoun. GDA is WS, FCV and Arlington. In the 04 age group, FCV and Arlington are clearly stronger than all the ECNL teams right now and they are both adding strong players. WS is adding A LOT of players and we will have to see what happens there. But all 4 ECNL teams have net losses at the top of the starting lineups. I just don't see how in the 04 age group the ECNL is at par with GDA in this area. 03 and older is a different story but I suspect GDA will continue to strengthen while ECNL weakens. And don't forget we now have a third national footprint option - EDP's move to USYS. This affects ECNL more than GDA.

why do you continually compare Arlington 04 to FCV 04 DA. They would destroy them. Get a grip.

who would destroy who?

FCV would destroy Arlington.

Arlington people need to get a grip with the comparisons. Haven't even played in an elite league yet and already saying how strong they are.

Arlington 04 tied PDA's third team. The same third time that go beat by Mclean ECNL 04.

FCV beat PDA's first team. Who would destroy PDA's third team.

So, lets go easy on the chest beating. This isn't VA State Cup.

You mean the same Mclean ECNL 04 team that has already lost to Arlington (who have also beaten the rest of the area ECNL teams, BRYC, Bethesda, MD United). So when you say destroy you mean by what goal differential? Didn't know that there is a transitive law when it comes to soccer games. So by your logic then, since FCV just tied PA Classics, and PA Classics lost to WS VA, so does that mean WS VA beats FCV?

The games will be decided on the field. And no matter who comes out on top, I hope their parents are happy being the big fish in their little DA Mid-Atlantic pond.

As opposed to being the big fish in an even smaller MA ECNL or CCL or EDP pond? LOL.

Well the discussion was about the 2 04 Mclean girls. Mentioned that they also picked up a BRYC CB as well. Not sure how that is confusing, but I will take your word for it.

Because you didn't name an age group. Didn't want to assume.

None of the girls let go where CB's. She will be third in depth chart or converted. Unless of course, she beats everyone out....which won't happen.

Be prepared for diminished playing time

Not my kid so not a concern for me. Until you see her compete I wouldn't just rule her out. Then again, you are FCV guy so......

He isn't FCV guy...he is former FCV guy that is bitter his daughter didn't make the team. Maybe just be happy for her to have a good experience wherever she is next. Why bash kids you don't even know? That seems really creepy man. They're 13 and 14 year old girls and you are a grown up (at least in age). Give it a rest with attacking children.

And, no, I am not the parent of the BRYC girl either. Maybe she will win a starting spot, maybe she won't. If you aren't at FCV, why the hell do you care?

Why do you care so much?

I'm not addressing the kid. I would NEVER go against a child.

I'm addressing the fact that parents leave hometown clubs for far away clubs in pursuit of a winning team without knowing the teams dynamics.

If your daughter is a stud CB and plays 80 minutes (which CB always do), why would you leave and drive 40 minutes for a team that already has depth in the position. Your setting up your kid for a bad experience.

Parents all over the DMV do this.

Really? You, the guy that screaming about nepotism and politics and that says the players coming into FCV aren't very good and certainly not better than those exiting, aren't talking about the kids? If you aren't talking about the kids, who exactly are you talking about? You are a bitter person with nothing better to do that to find someone else to blame for whatever has gone wrong for you and/or your child. I presume I don't know you because this bitter of a personality would be hard to forget. And I certainly don't know your child if she played at FCV. I wish her the best and I hope, for her sake, you back off because you are going to make her experiences miserable for her.

He never said the incoming girls are not good. He said the current players are and in the case of the BRYC CB he simply stated the truth, that FCV is currently strong at CB. Saying that kids on FCV are talented is not the same as saying the newcomers are not talented.

You just described exactly what is missing in youth development in the USA compared to the rest of the world > Competition for playing time. A player who starts and plays every minute of every game when they're healthy SHOULD seek another team where they have to perform better to keep getting their playing time.

It's the driving 40 minutes away that is accurate. A good club, with true vertical integration would simply move that player up an age group to get that competition for playing spot while keeping them in the club. A club that has an end goal in mind, say like D.C. United or the Spirit, where there is something they're trying to do as an academy that is way beyond paying youth coaches 6 figures and walking around wearing gear with their initials on the chest like the Premier League.

If these youth clubs that don't have pro connections really wanted to act like pro clubs, they'd keep move players up and do everything they could to provide for the needs of their top players, unless they don't have environment where that player can go to keep being challenged. Then buh by.

This is the issue too:

Real clubs always have players at younger ages that "aren't good enough" to compete, BUT they see something in the player that makes them believe they have better foundations to succeed in the future. I'd love to see a club that NEVER cuts players before 15 take hold. That would show their commitment to the future, and make them focus on different things when picking the U9s, and it would absolutely expose the coaches who are only good at recruiting versus ones who can actual spot talent and teach.

A star player wil not sit behind a star player. They will go elsewhere and be a star player.

People lose sight of the fact that it's a game meant to be played.
