NARRATOR....they were aborted before Roe as well, but a lot of mothers died too. I guess that is what you want ultimately, women dying in alleys because their uteruses were shredded by coat hangers. |
Anyone who subjects a woman to not have propriety over their own body believes they are just a vessel. |
In a perfect world, Vial perhaps* wouldn't have been able to abort her healthy, viable fetus. In our imperfect world, enacting laws or regulations to prevent her abortion means that doctors would be reluctant to perform even the medically indicated or necessary 3rd trimester abortions. So, for every one "irresponsible" late abortion, there would be thousands of women denied medically indicated late abortions. It's better to leave the decision to the pregnant women and their doctors. *perhaps, because none of us know Vial's mental health status. |
Reproduction is a messy drought process. Just because republicans have manipulated it into a black and white, up or down, voting issue does not make it so. |

Life is sacred. It's why people are disturbed and saddened to think that we still don't have universal healthcare and strong social safety nets to help the people who've already been born. |
| I would love to know how many people posting here about how abortion should be banned because all life is sacred are also over in the formula shortage thread posting their outrage that formula is being given to children in immigration custody and accommodations are being made to allow WIC recipients to get the formula their children need? |
If life is sacred, why are you and pro-life legislators deliberately killing pregnant mothers? If life was sacred, then there would be exceptions for the life of the mother. Ectopic pregnancies and pregnancies where the mother's life was seriously at risk to continue the pregnancy would be paramount and would be exempt. If life is sacred, then the existing living mother would be a priority of the potential life of the baby. If life was sacred, the laws would allow for D&C procedures for miscarriages to avoid the chance that the mother would die of sepsis due to fetus that could no longer become a viable baby. And while you think this is not happening, there are over 10 red states who either already have trigger laws in place or are writing laws right now that will ban all of the above. So, these legislators believe that killing mothers and forcing them to bear children that will be orphaned by the birth is acceptable. They believe that mothers of miscarriages should die rather than allow a doctor to remove the already dead fetus from her womb. They believe that in a case where either one or both of the mother and baby would be at risk of dying if the pregnancy were allowed to continue, that the mother should be sacrificed and definitely die rather than to terminate the pregnancy to allow her to live. Life is not sacred to these people. Political points are sacred these people. |
| The whole sacred talk is awash in religion and we are not a theocracy. My religion does not teach that a fertilized egg is sacred, so keep your laws off my body. |
You know perfectly well that many abortions occur when the developing child is far more than a fertilized egg. Your terminology makes it easier for women to view babies as disposable and abort them. |
And you missed my point entirely genius. Dobbs allows the states to ban ALL abortion if they choose. The justification for overturning Roe and Casey, per Alito, is that woman have no rights to abortion, ever. Ever. Get it? No right to save their own lives if needed. Completely up to whims of elected officials. The most radical judicial opinion I’ve ever read. A black stain on the SCOTUS, and a tragedy in the making. |
There is literally no one who thinks this. There are however millions of women who felt they had no safer choice, either for health or personal reasons. You should try talking to women in countries where abortion is completely illegal someday. Of course you can’t talk to many of them, because they’re dead. |

This has NOTHING to do with abortion and 100% to do with the privacy rights that ARE guaranteed by our constitution.
Women want to give birth at home. Homebirths can be banned. It's not in the constitution, right? Women want to have large families. Large families can be banned. It's not in the constitution, right? Women want to then homeschool their children. Homeschooling can be banned. It's not in the constitution, right? Women have PRIVACY rights, the rights to decide when and how they want to have their children and raise their children. Make no mistake. This is an attack on ALL women -- women who are pro abortion, women who are anti choice. It really makes NO difference. If you are in favor of women having children and having families and raising those families the way that you think that they should be raised, then be VERY scared of this opinion. It is taking away YOUR rights too. It has NOTHING to do with abortion at all. It states specifically that women have NO fundament rights at all unless they are specifically guaranteed by the constitution. |
The supreme court needs to be freed from these unevolved old timey dinosaurs. |
