UHC CEO Gunned Down in Midtown Manhattan

If what they site says is true - United demanding that doctors fax and Mail copies of their notes before they approve treatments and United playing games with receiving them - it is absolutely infuriating. Also the part where insurance delays and delays so that out of pocket maxes for the year reset and you have to pay more the following year just to get treatments you should have gotten months ago. Ridiculous.

The United States is a 2nd world s hole. F US healthcare and the dbags who invented this $#itty system. The US is hanging on by a thread.

Just the today I read a science article about how plastics contain 300+ chemicals linked to cancer. Everything we come into contact with in the modern world touches plastic. We now know microplastics are everywhere choking out the environment and at win our bloodstreams poisoning our bodies. But why can't we do anything about it? Because the petroleum industry blocks any rational attempts to curtail plastic use.

Why can't we do anything about global warming that's ruining the planet and making areas uninhabitable? Because corporations stymie any attempt at responsible reduction in order to make sure they line their own pockets.

Why can't Americans have affordable universal care where none of the BS he describes with faxing notes would ever be normalized? Because the insurance and healthcare industries block all sane reform of the health care system to ensure their stock price goes up and their CEOs have their 8th Porsche.

The US is such a disaster and a dump. It is legal when CEOs and corporations kill us all with microplastic plloution, global warming, and games with healthcare. What a farce.

I hope those are separate. That you feel bad for his kids because they lost their dad so senselessly.

The fact that the suspect may be attractive should be irrelevant to your sympathy.

I don’t care about him being hot. I can’t imagine a parent getting murdered and thousands of people being happy about it.

I agree. Ironically, the CEOs kids went to a public high school and the older one is at a public flagship. They probably grew up in a more low key way than a Gilman grad whose family owns multiple country clubs and nursing homes.

This is the interesting thing to me. Given the descriptions of “anti-capitalism” we’ve been given by the police.

His own family is the epitome of “capitalism”.

Seems more like his grudge was with the health insurance industry. Specifically UnitedHealth

But then that would still be odd, because given the family wealth they should be able to cover anything their health plan denied.

I just find this mind-boggling. Given the planning and forethought and the specificity of his target.

On a more shallow note— there is no debate about him being EXTREMELY attractive. Like “wow 10/10” level of attractive.

Not if he dropped out.

You're never an ex student. You're a former, you're an alumnus, you're a graduate. Why was "ex" Ivy League student put in every headline and viral tweet?

I assume that it’s because they can’t confirm that he graduated.

No, it’s because “ex” is shorter and more understandable for the majority of our poorly educated countrymen.

Just him is seems. And the unanimous nature of it is very intriguing.

Yes, Meta owns several of those so makes sense that they will go dark at the same time but not the others.

Hmm. Billionaires and the felon aren’t going to be happy with his thoughts, especially if he really did write this:

“No single document better encapsulates the belief that all people are equal in fundamental worth and moral status and the frameworks for fostering collective well-being than the US constitution.

Writing a rule down makes it into a law. I don’t give a f&ck about the law. Law means nothing. What does matter is following the guidance of our own logic and what we learn from those before us to maximize our own well-being, which will then maximize the well-being of our loved ones and community.

That’s where UnitedHealthcare went wrong. They violated their contract with my mother, with me, and tens of millions of other Americans. This threat to my own health, my family’s health, and the health of our country’s people requires me to respond with an act of war.“

Chilling.

They should clarify that he was ex-“minor”

Or better yet — no mask but a red MAGA hat to hide his most distinct facial features

That’s what I was thinking. He stood out with the mask. Few people wear them these days.

Well, he has a masters in comp sci from Penn. And a teen from a local HS that hadn’t yet passed algebra also figured out how to print a 3D gun, so my guess’s is it’s pretty idiot proof if you have the instructions.
My question is where he got the money for the 3D printer, materials, bus tickets, hostel fee, etc. I’m assuming he hasn’t been employed for a while.

He parents may have bought him a $900k house. He sold it. He also had a job for a few years, it seems.

Why is it sadder for a valedictorian who had Ivy League degrees, than for a poor inner city kid with no opportunity to develop his potential?

The PP didn’t say they wouldn’t be sad for your inner city kid or that one would be sadder than the other. One can be sad for both. But you seem to be spoiling for class warfare so carry on.

Come on. Tell me these posts would be the same for a black kid who worked in a factory.

These posters are besides themselves because this kid squandered the path they longed for their children to take.

You’re projecting your own prejudices. Not everyone thinks like you.

And it is sad someone killed someone for no reason.

A duel was between two consenting individuals fighting fairly. Sneaking and shooting someone in the back isn’t that

Pretty sure facial recognition technology of some kind that they don't want to reveal got him not some random McDonald's employee.

Why would they? He still took a stand against corporate medical greed.

My insurance walked back their proposed limits on anesthesia. Not sure that would have happened in the absence of the shooting.

Agree.

Is he going to be charged federally or by the state of NY?

I see more than one person wearing a mask every time I go out. Not outside on the street usually, but on customers and employees at Costco, and other stores.
