S/O why do Americans shower in the morning?

Anonymous
I'm from overseas and when I came here as a child I learned that here people shower in the mornings as opposed to the evening like back home. I mean, I assume your sheets are clean (well they aren't anymore if you go to bed without showering first, but they would be if you did shower in the evenings) so why do you think you get so dirty at night that you need to shower in the morning? Unless you have night sweats or messy sex at night, why shower in the morning rather than evening? I like showering before bed because I'm still clean for the next day (unless I have sweats) and it feels better going to bed that way.

Haha this is interesting too. I'm the OP from the other thread. Back home we shower in the morning to "wake up" and in the evening to get the stinks out.

It's freaking hot all year long there so 2 showers a day is the minimum necessary to look decent.

A lot of Americans shower me fore bed and in the morning. Many people sweat or have other body odor when they wake up in the morning. I suggest you shower in the morning, and at night if you would like in addition, bc otherwise there is a very good chance that b American standards you smell and no one will want to promote you or be friends with you.

I only shower before bed, because I feel gross after being out and about all day. I would additionally shower in the morning if I had a sweaty night or something.

Hmm unlikely as I'm not a morning person and would rather sleep for those extra 20 minutes. Coincidentally I just got a promotion and have lots of friends but maybe I'll try it to see what the hype is? Maybe it'll make me feel better somehow? I was honestly just curious, not against it really.

To "wake up"? But maybe it could be similar to why there also are no/shoes only households. Or why it's not/gross to drive barefoot.

I've been showing primarily at night as long as I've loved on my own...22 yrs. I like going to need clean. That said I don't shower every single day. I shower every other day unless I've been very active and gotten dirty or sweaty etc. I don't think it's good for your hair, skin, or the environment for you to shower daily.

I shower before bed and in the morning. I also use deodorant. Why do most foreigners smell weird?

The closed-in house smell?

I only shower at night- I think it got engrained from playing sports in high school. Practice was in the afternoon, so I always showered at night. I never shower in the AM unless in getting ready for something fancy, or if it was very hot or something.

I also think its gross to go to bed every night without showering. And I'm not a germophobe on any level.

Yes. And oily.

You do hear a lot of Americans talking about showering in the morning. I don't get that. I'm American, but I like to go to bed clean. If it's been a sweaty or sexy night, I'll also shower in the morning.

My hair is very fine and can be greasy. If I shower at night, then sleep on it, there is no way it will be presentable for work, no matter how I style it.

Simple. I poop in the morning and like to take a shower in the morning to feel fresh and clean.

OP, it's partly due to cultural differences. Some shower in the morning and others in the evening. But it is the norm to shower daily. Also American homes have in-door plumbing and most people have private bathrooms. If you have not figured this out, you must be FOB.
